Transmigrated into the World of “Demon Lord Wu Zun” Chapter 49

Chapter 49: Caught…

The barren mountain range had no lush plants or trees, the animals were few, and dry rocks lay everywhere. The place seemed to give off a desolate atmosphere as well.

With a blank expression, Gu Bai went into the mountains and found a cave.

At the cave entrance was a relatively short tree, its leaves fell in a swirl as he approached.

……it suddenly felt even bleaker.

Gu Bai painstakingly entered the cavern, and then…… hugged his knees as he squatted down.

He looked like a bitter cauliflower.

The situation seemed exceedingly miserable.

It had already been half an hour since he’d last recalled Qi Guan Rui’s indecencies, Gu Bai had mostly calmed down by now…… his nose ached, and he felt incomparably depressed.

How could Gu Xiao Shan be that psychopath?

Unhappy……

But there was nothing he could do about being unhappy. If he was deceived then he was deceived, fuck……. he could finally understand the agony of an innocent woman getting emotionally duped by an unfaithful man after giving birth to their child……. wait, something wasn’t right! Alright, even though he wasn’t a woman but a man, he still expended his emotions, okay! He thought he could spend centuries training with, traveling with, and relying on that brat, okay! How the fuck did he not know that the psychopath now not only tricked love from women but also tricked familial-like fondness from men!

It was so irritating! He wanted an explanation, ahhhh!

Gu Bai’s mind was a mess. After straining to maintain face[1] for so many years, he thought that he could finally let his guard down in front of Gu Xiao Shan. Yet, he got the equation “Gu Xiao Shan = Qi Guan Rui = psycho protagonist” instead, how exhausting.

After squatting for a while, Gu Bai still thought of that person as a good-for-nothing.

Gu Xiao Shan…… okay, it was actually Qi Guan Rui.

Qi Guan Rui must have discovered that he’d left without a word by now, would he think that his kindness was unappreciated? Would he think that he was a traitor? Would he crush him into pieces and chew him up and swallow him like the traitors in the original story? Would…… he go searching everywhere for him?

In the original novel, all those who were deemed a traitor by Qi Guan Rui suffered atrocious endings.

He must have been added onto the blacklist by now, becoming one of Qi Guan Rui’s pledged targets of annihilation…… he wasn’t willing to reconcile with this notion no matter how he thought about it.

He’d clearly worked so hard already, why would things end up like this?

The more Gu Bai thought about it, the more irritated he became, the more he thought about it the more……wait, Tian Du Cheng!

It was like he was suddenly splashed with a bucket of ice water, he felt cold from head to toe.

Tian Du Cheng… now that Qi Guan Rui had noticed he was gone, would he look to cause trouble in Tian Du Cheng?

Gu Bai suddenly remembered Tian Du Cheng’s finale in the original story……a dead city.

In the original novel, Qi Guan Rui turned into the Tun Tian Xuan Mang and devoured everyone at the wedding hall, then decimated the entire city.

And in that tragic scene, the people who regarded the tragedy to be set off by the Mo Ren seeking revolt… became the Mo Domain’s final BOSS.

Thinking of this, Gu Bai shivered and felt unnerved.

Yes, after he transmigrated into the body of Zi Che Shu Bai and took on the responsibility of Tian Du Cheng, it was just so he could take advantage of his identity to help himself live a better life. He thought that as long as he avoided the protagonist, he could evade this tragedy and live merrily through the aid of the city.

……it was just for him to take advantage of, and it only existed to be of use to his life.

But as time went on, Gu Bai cultivated many trustworthy subordinates and received love and esteem from the entire Tian Du Cheng.

‘The man is neither grass nor tree’[2]. No matter how cruel Gu Bai may be, no matter how accustomed to this world that dignified Wushu he was, he still had some affection for the people of Tian Du Cheng.

That small amount of affection wasn’t enough to sacrifice his life for, but in the moment, it did make him think of the city residents’ respect for him, and the group of loyal dogs that were willing to give up everything for him…… he felt like he was plummeting into an ice hole.

No, no, no, perhaps the worst was yet to come.

If he went back by himself……

He might only continue the original plot’s finale by getting eaten by Qi Guan Rui. But it was also possible that Qi Guan Rui might accept him as an ally on the basis that he had returned on his own accord, and also accept the entire Tian Du Cheng as an ally…… if he was willing to be controlled by the snake gu.

Gu Bai had already checked, there were no signs of abnormalities in his body. Perhaps Qi Guan Rui hadn’t thought the timing was right yet, or maybe Qi Guan Rui valued the ability to exploit his body itself more. Maybe……maybe there was some other reason.

He still had a chance of surviving, but he mustn’t wait until Qi Guan Rui came to catch him first.

If that were to happen, he’d really think that he was betrayed and there’d be no chance at all.

Once he’d thought it through, Gu Bai became annoyed at his sudden act of impulse.

He shouldn’t have escaped, why had he suddenly become so reckless?

Qi Guan Rui exposing the snake voodoo in front of him was a test on its own. If he had passed this test, perhaps he could’ve also become one of Qi Guan Rui’s underlings like Chen Yuanhao and Chou Tu… then he wouldn’t have to die!

But he’d messed this up.

Didn’t know if there was still time to fix it either……

Gu Bai sighed.

It was his fault that his fear of the psycho protagonist was so strong after all these years, resulting in his conditioned reflex screwing everything up.

So what… even if Qi Guan Rui was only acting……Gu Bai suppressed the sourness in his heart and snorted coldly.

Worst comes to worst, I’ll just act along hereafter, who doesn’t know how to pretend to be intimate!

Anyhow, the most important thing is to hurry back right now.

And an excuse, I must find a good one!

Gu Bai thought it through, and immediately stood up, feeling vigorous and ready.

Return, return, return… not a second to waste!

Right at that moment, a slender shadow eased into the cavern.

And following it, was a voice, gentle as can be: “Gege, why did you escape to here? You’ve made me search so hard……”

Gu Bai’s face turned blue.

What can be worse than being caught right after he thought it all through, ah shit!

He opened his mouth, just about to explain.

Fuck… even though it’s a little late, having an explanation is still better than having none! Hurry up and open your mouth, get to the point!

But the very next moment, he felt a wave of dizziness, followed by darkness, and then nothing.

His final thoughts were: Fuck, how despicable! Releasing poison gas the minute you come in!

Qi Guan Rui didn’t know how much time had passed, he only knew that he had long waited for Zi Che Shu Bai to return to no avail, and the rising wildness in his chest got harder and harder to suppress.

And then…… and then there might have been some little bugs that appeared. He didn’t bother to deal with them, so he just morphed into his original python form and let his instincts take over his body.

He might have swallowed a lot of people…… the power within him kept rising ceaselessly.

He followed an immensely faint scent and swallowed some idiots that tried to block the way for some reason.

He’d never had this feeling before.

More and more blocked the way, then gradually less and less. His power kept rising until that of an intermediate Wu Wang, then it finally slowed down.

At this time, the lingering scent at the tip of his nose also became increasingly distinct.

When the large python arrived at the barren mountain range, it suddenly morphed into a handsome young man.

Finally…… found it.

The distorted snake shadow climbed the mountainside at full speed, and in an instant, arrived at the lonely cave.

The handsome young man sniffed, smiled, and walked in.

The figure he had missed so much stood in the center of the cavern with the same cold arrogance as usual.

He always looked so elevated, so unattainable.

The long, strenuous time that Qi Guan Rui had spent being tormented and searching for him… it seemed to be only an insignificant dash of dust in that person’s cold eyes.

The way he looked at Qi Guan Rui from up above, like he was looking at a lump of filth.

……if Gu Bai knew Qi Guan Rui’s inner thoughts, he’d feel so wronged, okay.

To hell with your lump of filth! To hell with your dust!

Speaking of which, I only looked at you for a second… how the hell did you even make out all these emotions and even drew your own analogies!

Overthinking is an illness you gotta seek treatment for, dear!

But Gu Bai was unconscious, so he couldn’t yell.

Then, he was held tightly in the person’s arms and carried away.

When Gu Bai woke, he was in the usual high spirits he always felt after a deep sleep.

He realized then and there: Motherfucker! So not being able to wake up was indeed from being poisoned… you’ve ruined me so badly, psycho protagonist!

Soon after, Gu Bai opened his eyes. He wanted to move, to move…… why couldn’t he move?!

A restrictive feeling came from his wrists and ankles. If he struggled hard enough, you could even hear the crisp sound of clanging metal.

In that instant, he had a horrible gut feeling.

Gu Bai turned around to look and wished to gouge out his own eyes instead.

I! am! tied! up!

Why am I tied up?!

And I’m even tied to a bed…… did I enter the wrong set?

That’s right, Gu Bai was now stripped of his outer jacket. He lay face up on the large, soft bed with only his inner clothing on.

There was a post on each corner of the bed, which appeared to be cast from some special kind of metal. The cold, hard look of them… it seemed as if they couldn’t be destroyed.

At the same time, his four limbs were shackled by metal chains made from the same material. The long chains came out of the four metal pillars, like a miniature cage.

Gu Bai took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly.

He tried, but couldn’t activate his Wu Qi…… no doubt, it had been constrained by these chains.

In Gu Bai’s impression, this book had indeed written about something called the “Jin Wu Xuan Tie”[3]. Not only was the rigidity shocking, as long as you used it to tie someone up, any martial practitioner below the level of Wu Di would not be able to congregate their Wu Qi… becoming no different from an ordinary person. Even if it were a superior being above the level of Wu Di, under the restrictions of the Jin Wu Xuan Tie, they would still be greatly affected.

But Gu Bai couldn’t understand! There was no way to understand!

Qi Guan Rui and he used to be inseparable, how had he even gotten his hands on this thing… it was really precious, okay!

And even made it into a big bed like this……

Besides, speaking of Qi Guan Rui, where had he gone… why the hell had he not seen him since waking up?

Right at that moment, the door was pushed open.

The door to the luxurious room Gu Bai lay in was pushed open by the slender shadow of a human figure.

The person gradually got closer, it was indeed that gentle-smiling, handsome young man.

Qi Guan Rui called out affectionately: “Gege, you’re awake.”

Gu Bai looked over. He always used to think Xiao Shan was so, so kind and he also knew Xiao Shan was very, very good-looking. But he’d never observed him as carefully as he did just then, trying to find anything different about him with reference to his memory…… or trying to find something to better prove that he was a psychopath.

Qi Guan Rui smiled slightly: “What’s Gege looking at?” He walked closer as he spoke, bending his leg to kneel-halfway on the bed, “Do you not recognize me?”

Gu Bai saw very clearly.

His face was still the one he was familiar with, but those eyes……

The light in those eyes was clearly crazed and suppressed.

Crazed to the point… that it was nearly contorted.

Gu Bai was literally going to burst into tears!

H-h-h-he really is a psycho! A proper psycho!

Look at that psychopath’s eyes! If you said those weren’t the fucking eyes of someone who ate people, no one would believe you!

Evil gods[4]……

Qi Guan Rui suddenly turned his head and smiled: “Right, I forgot. Gege isn’t able to speak right now.”

Gu Bai wished he could nod his head faster. That’s right, you better hurry and let me talk… it’s terrible finding out you’re mute the second you wake up!

Qi Guan Rui’s smile became even gentler: “But, compared to letting Gege say things I don’t want to hear, I might as well not let you talk at all.” His knees slowly moved, slowly…… then he straddled the long, straight legs of the person on the bed, enshrouding him beneath his body.

“I would never despise Gege, but why does Gege despise me?”

No, no, no, I don’t despise you…… okay, I at most despise that you’re a psycho, but we can talk it out! Let’s! talk! this! out!

“I clearly trust Gege so much…… why did Gege run away?”

I just didn’t react in time you bastard, aren’t I back now… it’s just that you were faster!

“You clearly acted as if you were going to stay with me forever, but you left me without a word, and made me wait so long……”

Dear, if you’re unhappy, let me strike a deal with you and stay with you for two days without leaving… is that okay now……

“I’m so upset.”

Qi Guan Rui leaned even closer.

Gu Bai felt as if he could see the fangs deep in Qi Guan Rui’s mouth.

Fuck, was this the cue that he was gonna start eating?!

Don’t eat someone alive… you want me to watch myself get eaten bite by bite?? This is too scary!

And also, what the fuck are you upset about, I should be the one upset okay… cute lil bro turns out to be a psychopath that eats other people… don’t you think the disparity is a little much?!

Slowly, the tip of Qi Guan Rui’s nose touched the tip of Gu Bai’s nose.

“Gege betrayed me and let me down.”

……no! I can sincerely explain!

Qi Guan Rui’s voice was low and soft: “It seems like Gege wants to tell me something?”

He laughed softly: “But no matter what it is, I don’t think…… I want to hear it.”

Gu Bai’s eyes widened; his heart was crying tears.

I’m! begging! you! Give me a chance to explain!

I really was going to come back and find you TAT……

Translator’s Notes:

[1] The concept of “face” in Chinese refers to the cultural understanding of social standing, respect, and honor. So, when asked to “give face” or “keep face”, it means to perform respect-giving actions or to maintain a respectful facade.

[2] ”人非草木” is a Chinese idiom which states that mankind does not act like grass or trees. Mankind is not feelingless and neutral to emotions, but is instead able to be influenced by sentimental feelings.

[3] Directly translated from Chinese, the Jin Wu Xuan Tie means a mysterious metal that prohibits the practicing of martial arts.

[4] In the context of this line, Gu Bai was complaining that the deities/eyes ‘up-above’ were doing evil, so I felt that it was best to replace the term “苍天” with “gods” instead of its more technical translation of “heaven”. In the olden times, people thought of “苍天” as the god/deity that overlooked life and dictated their fate.

Transmigrated into the World of “Demon Lord Wu Zun” Chapter 48

Chapter 48: Crazy

Zi Che · truly tragic · Shu Bai, or also known as the ‘stupid writer’, felt his whole world crack.

My little Shan is so cute, how can he be a freak?!

This is absolutely impossible!

There must be a mistake……

Gu Bai looked at Qi Guan Rui uncertainly, his ten interlocked fingers shot out snake voodoos like that of an arrow leaving the bowstring. Each one mustered great strength to burrow into the brains of the Mo Ren.

The original work clearly stated: Aside from the bloodline of the Tun Tian Xuan Mang, no other bloodline had the ability to control snake voodoo.

The original intent was to have a unique, golden leg unlike the rest, impossible to duplicate.

But……

Fuck, I can’t deceive myself even if I wanted to!

Thinking back, Gu Bai was overwhelmed with emotions.

Damn, that’s right. If Gu Xiao Shan wasn’t the psycho protagonist but just a normal servant, how could he have that kind of temperament!

Thinking back carefully on this guy’s behavior and comparing it with the information he’d found, then setting it side by side with the memories in his mind… even the things that didn’t make sense before could be explained now. Let’s not make it worse by bringing up the details.

For example, when he had first looked into Gu Xiao Shan’s background, he had thought that someone faking their persona wouldn’t need to seek refuge with him. But if the protagonist was a psychopath, he wouldn’t even need a reason to do such a thing! Another example was that while Gu Xiao Shan’s martial arts skills seemed pretty low, Tun Tian Xuan Mang itself had the ability to conceal its powers. In the original story, the psycho protagonist relied on this very factor to deliberately trick others into thinking he was weak… it’s a must-have trait for a proper slap in the face! Yet another example was how he always ran into the protagonist’s girls no matter where he went, it must have been because the protagonist was by his side all along!

And all the ‘encountering adventure’ stuff, the ‘character’s tragic past’ stuff, the ‘important male supporting’ role stuff…… it was unbearable to watch.

That being said, sleeping with Gu Xiao Shan was always so deep, so peaceful. Could it be that he was also tampered with?!

Thinking closely, it was terrifying……

Gu Bai’s whole body felt nauseous.

This practically felt like being struck by lightning……. oh no, more like being thunderstruck as divine punishment.

He’d led a life of avoiding the psychopath, but in reality, actually kept the psychopath by his side the whole time, was he not a fucking storehouse?

Okay, he most definitely was a storehouse……ah.

Gu Bai was on the verge of collapsing, but he was used to keeping up an aloof, grandeur shell. In reality, his mind was completely blank.

He watched Qi Guan Rui control the snake voodoo, he watched Qi Guan Rui occasionally release a punch or two…… his power was no worse than his own…… and he watched Qi Guan Rui reach out his hand…… to pull him.

Qi Guan Rui didn’t know why Gu Bai suddenly stopped moving, and felt somewhat exasperated.

Although Zi Che Shu Bai did indeed like to let his mind wander, did he have to do it in a life-and-death situation…… could it be that the released force of the snake voodoo scared Zi Che Shu Bai? But logically speaking, he shouldn’t be that gutless.

Or was it that…… he was disgusted by this method?

Qi Guan Rui’s tone was very gentle: “Gege, why are you dazing off?”

Gu Bai didn’t return to his senses, but reflexively said: “……it’s nothing.”

Immediately afterwards, he also began attacking by going off his instincts.

Because Qi Guan Rui started to give free rein to his true strength, he controlled the snake voodoo smoothly and with ease, quickly seizing a good portion of the Mo Ren’s brains, turning them into his own puppets, and turning them around to attack the other Mo Rens instead.

And even though Gu Bai was only striking out with his instincts, under the circumstance of reduced pressure, it wasn’t a problem dealing with three or four intermediate Wu Jun at once. Not long after, the majority of the Mo Ren had already been killed, and it appeared as though they were about to be wiped out at any moment.

The Mo Ren made eye contact with each other momentarily, and abruptly fled in two directions.

The enemy was too strong, the Mo Ren were a byproduct of those who had gone overboard in their pursuit of martial arts and were misguided, but they hadn’t lost their minds.

Gu Bai instantly said: “Let’s split up and go after them, we can’t let a single one escape.”

Qi Guan Rui saw that Gu Bai’s expression was back to normal, and felt relieved…… looked like he was just a little shocked and stunned.

Of course, he was very obedient, so he smiled softly and said: “Okay, we’ll meet here later, Gege?”

Gu Bai agreed, glanced at Qi Guan Rui with a conflicted expression, and ran off with a “shoo” sound.

Yes, ran off.

Gu Bai ran off in the direction of the fleeing Mo Ren, and before they’d hardly made it out, he’d already killed them all off.

But after finishing them, he didn’t return. Instead, he unceasingly fled the city at an even faster pace.

Only after running for hundreds of miles, did he finally stop at a barren mountain range.

There were no more roads ahead, unless you crossed the mountain range.

Only then, did Gu Bai finally came to his senses.

He also finally came to terms with reality…… even if he didn’t want to admit it, he must acknowledge that the person he had regarded as someone just as important as his own blood, was the very psychopath that would come to sacrifice the entire world and break the void alone.

……the very psychopath he had created.

Gu Bai had never thought that the poor child he had rescued from the Town of the Blue Goats would become the cool, handsome, domineering protagonist later on.

You couldn’t blame him for being stupid, it was just that his novel was a ’feel-good’ novel[1]. There was no way it would go into detail about the protagonist’s hardship-filled youth, it started right off the bat with “The sky was dark and the winds were high, a young man stumbled through the night, behind him were chasing killers and in front of him was a bottomless cliff”. The protagonist was already 18 from the very beginning, where he would be knocked down again, okay!

As for the protagonist’s past, it was written in a narrative manner in one go. It said that he was ridiculed and looked down upon, but it never mentioned how the protagonist was mistreated. Even with the so-called Aunt, it only mentioned that when the protagonist sought revenge, he had killed the foolish woman that pushed him around, never disclosing the woman’s specific identity at all.

How was he supposed to compare one to the other, and draw the connection between a pitiful child and the eventual psycho?

Thinking about it now, perhaps this world installed its own set of logic, and it resulted in his entrapment.

But if Gu Xiao Shan is the psycho protagonist…… what should he do now?

Gu Bai cherished and regarded Gu Xiao Shan fondly, but he was also deeply familiar with the character he, himself, had created.

The psycho protagonist walked among many women, befuddling them with his refined attitude, and turning them into die-hard pawns, each thought they were the protagonist’s true love.

The psycho protagonist was loyal and caring to his underlings, attentive and considerate, willing to tolerate their all……even their most ugliest sides;

The psycho protagonist was always cordial and kind, even in the most frightful of  dilemmas he was able to break away by means of his own powers.

In outsider’s eyes, the psycho protagonist would forever be a young man filled with charm, one who placed great importance on devotion and righteousness…… a leader worthy of following……

As long as the psycho protagonist wanted to, he was able to make any person develop a sense of fondness for him, making them believe they had a special place in his heart.

And because of that, he was surrounded by many followers who desperately longed to worship him. But in front of others…… except for the women and underlings devoted to him…… he would never show his true python form.

Yet, in the Demonic City, he was known as the cold-hearted Demon Lord, suppressing the Mo Ren with his powers. The infamous title of the Tun Tian Xuan Mang never ceased to circulate the city.

He was the type of person who appeared to be whatever he acted as, his lies made others believe it was the most genuine truth, and his tenderness towards women was powerful enough to melt ice and snow.

But in the depths of his heart, he didn’t care about a single person at all.

The whole world was just a big playground to him. He would get all sorts of fun and benefits from the women, underlings, and followers. And at the end, when he became the Wu Zun, he would lose interest in this world once again.

The finale was as clear as could be.

Gu Bai trusted Gu Xiao Shan, but he couldn’t trust Qi Guan Rui……. that psychopath.

And so, his first instinct was to run.

Ever since he’d come to this world, all he’d wanted was to avoid the psychopath’s sight and live happily for a couple hundred years enjoying his reborn life…… before dying once the psychopath sacrificed the whole world.

But now it was all ruined.

All his efforts seemed like a joke.

……how devastating.

Fuck, are you toying with me, you damned world?!

Gu Bai felt sick to his stomach.

Gu Xiao Shan treated him well, so well that an otaku like him felt as if no one in his past life was ever as kind, as considerate, or as caring as him. And because of that, he also cared more and more for Gu Xiao Shan, but now he suddenly realized that all of it could be fake.

If it was that psycho, he would used many different kinds of methods to his advantage. He would secretly lie low in a certain city, flirt with the high-status women with powerful backgrounds, take them into his own harem, and then naturally ease into the royal family, and take over the entire city.

So, Qi Guan Rui being nice to him all this time, was it also to take over his city, Tian Du Cheng……?

Gu Bai’s eyes were a little red.

Damn that saying, “real men don’t shed tears easily”, ah I really wanna cry right now!

With heavy steps, Gu Bai slowly headed for the barren mountain range.

Stuff like OCD, having the appearance of an unreachable flower…… he had forgotten it all, only leaving behind a lonely shadow that grew pitifully longer on the ground’s surface.

The sky had darkened.

Meanwhile, Qi Guan Rui had planted all the snake voodoo in the heads of the Mo Ren, so when he rushed back, he brought a group of puppets with him.

The place was a mess, he wanted to see Zi Che Shu Bai quickly and then take the puppets somewhere else to foster connections with them.

The whole place was trashed with flesh, and stained with blood, there was no emotional appeal at all.

But after Qi Guan Rui returned, he still hadn’t seen Gu Bai.

He paused, and stood to wait under a tree.

This time, he seems a bit slow?

Qi Guan Rui waited for many hours, from broad daylight till dark. He waited until the girls that had previously escaped finally found higher-ups to come take care of the mess.

But Gu Bai never came back.

Qi Guan Rui’s expression started to change, from a gentle smile, to a face that got more and more cold.

At last, when the people finally came to investigate, his face had become contorted beyond comparison.

If it were just the few Mo Ren, Zi Che Shu Bai wouldn’t have taken so long. Then…… he must not have wanted to return himself.

Zi Che Shu Bai had abandoned him.

……but why?

Was it because of the snake voodoo, he thought that snake voodoo was disgusting, and dirty, and evil, so he couldn’t stand the snake voodoo, and thus Qi Guan Rui either?

Ah, how lofty of the Tian Du Cheng city lord, he couldn’t even stand a little bit of filth.

His patience, his constraint, none of it stood a chance against Zi Che Shu Bai’s disgust of the snake voodoo.

That’s really…… unforgivable.

Qi Guan Rui covered his face with one hand, his body slightly trembling.

Ten or so puppets surrounded him, standing there quietly. Out of the whole venue, this scene stood out a little too much.

The city guards came late, but the second they saw them, they immediately rushed over to outflank them.

“Who are you people? Why have you caused such a murderous scene?!”

“Capture him! Take him back to the City Governor’s Palace!”

“He must be taken to prison, and served the heaviest punishment!”

Qi Guan Rui’s voice was low and heavy, “……Leave.”

The city guards didn’t hear him clearly, and encircled them even tighter.

The ten or so puppets exploded with a “bang bang”, bursting into clumps of flesh.

A lot of the closer city guards were taken out with them, exploding in the same manner.

In such a strange situation, the city guards couldn’t help but give into their fear.

In the next second, the trembling young man suddenly transformed into a mountain-sized python, with blood-red pupils, and an aura of boundless power and overwhelming force.

The python opened its mouth, taking in a sudden breath…….

All the guard’s faces showed incredulous fear, their bodies floated up against their will, and they were all swallowed by the python’s gaping hole.

The flower viewing venue and the beautiful gardens that had been preserved for thousands of years were turned to ruins.

And in a nearby city was a humongous python behaving in a crazed state, wreaking havoc the whole way.

The large python consumed nearly all the martial artists that came forth to attack, showing no signs of exhaustion, thrashing toward a certain direction.

And no one was able to catch up to it.

[1] *In chinese, “爽文” directly translates into a “feel-good story”, which refers to the type of novel that writes about the protagonist’s story from start to finish in a smooth, fast pace. These novels are incredibly popular, as their sole intention is for readers to ‘feel good’ once they finish reading it.

Flower Vase: Chapter 16

Perhaps it was because he stole his lines, the look on Qin Zhiyuan’s face turned rather unpleasant.

Gu Yan got his things, then turned to walk out. When he was almost at the door, he stopped in his tracks again, then turned his head to look back.

Qin Zhiyuan was still standing in the same spot looking at him. He was well suited to play the Casanova with the way he looked then. The kitchen was already remodeled though, it was done exactly according to Qin Zhiyuan’s specifications. There was a full set of European styled kitchenware, so beautiful, yet its beauty had no substance. Gu Yan couldn’t help but think that it would be so exhausting to cook in this kitchen, the whole room would be covered in grease and smoke no matter what you did.

But it would still be very happy all the same.

That happiness no longer had anything to do with him.

Gu Yan quietly pulled the door closed. Qin Zhiyuan’s condo was on the eighteenth floor. He didn’t take the elevator, but walked down each and every flight of stairs, as if he was walking past those fulfilling and wonderful days.

Losing your love was one thing, work would still need to continue.

The period drama that Gu Yan was filming was close to completion anyway, they managed to hype it up a bit because of the car accident. Later, he went back to the studio to finish shooting a few more shots, and that completed his mission.

But because the end of the year was approaching, all kinds of award ceremonies came up, one after another. Though Gu Yan had no luck with any awards, he was often invited to go fill up space. There was also another movie he starred in that was close to release, and he had to go with the film crew everywhere for promotions. Plus, he had to squeeze out the time to shoot a couple of commercials and magazine covers. At times, he was so busy he couldn’t even find the time to eat, much less miss a certain someone.

More than a month passed like this. One night when Gu Yan went to go participate in some awards ceremony, he unexpectedly ran into Qin Feng.

Qin Feng had kept a low profile ever since the drugging incident. He was probably disciplined by Qin Zhiyuan and had suffered a bit for it. Which explained why he was even more haughty than before when he appeared this time around. When he walked around with his arm around his model girlfriend, even his chin pointed skywards, Gu Yan actually worried that he would trip and fall.

Of course, as soon as he saw Gu Yan, his eyes widened, the look in his eyes was so sharp, it was as if knives were shooting out of them.

Gu Yan thought it was hilarious. Even when Qin Feng cornered him in the bathroom later, he still had a smile on his face. He greeted him as he washed his hands, “Young Master Qin, it’s been a long time.”

Qin Feng held old grievances and new grudges against him, and stared at him with a sullen face. The first thing out of his mouth was, “My brother left the country a couple of days ago.”

Gu Yan said, “Oh”, everything became clear as he thought to himself, no wonder they’d let the little bunny out.

Qin Feng then continued, “Sure, Zhao Xin’s awake, but he’s still got some long-term damage. My brother took him to go find some medical experts out of the country for treatment.”

Gu Yan’s hand trembled slightly.

The icy cold water flowed over his palm, the scabbed-over area stung slightly.

Gu Yan wondered if he had long term damage of his own. He reached out to turn the faucet, and raised his head to stare at his own smiling reflection in the mirror as he said calmly, “That’s good, hopefully, Director Zhao will get better soon.”

Qin Feng obviously didn’t know of Qin Zhiyuan’s secret, he made a disparaging “hmph” sound, and said, “Word is my brother dumped you?”

“You believe in rumors? I actually dumped him first.”

“What?”

“President Qin is too stingy, I’m planning on looking for a new sponsor.”

Qin Feng’s expression relaxed, he said, “At least you get it. In this business, you won’t be able to make it without someone backing you.”

“Shame that it’s so hard finding a new boss though, he should have money and power, and can help my career, someone like…” Gu Yan suddenly leaned closer to Qin Feng, his eyes sweeping across his handsome face.

Qin Feng’s eyebrows went up, he was very pleased with himself.

Gu Yan continued, “Someone like your father.”

Qin Feng stopped short.

“If Young Master Qin will be willing to make the introductions between your father and me, I will be most appreciative.”

Qin Feng’s face turned green with anger, he let out a litany of curses.

“It’s not enough that you hooked up with my brother, you even want to make a move on my dad, you… you…” Little bunnies were little bunnies after all, they even stutter when they’re trying to cuss someone out.

Gu Yan was thankful for the entertainment he provided. He shook his head ruefully as he said, “It’s fine if Young Master Qin doesn’t want to, why be so angry about it?”

Then he dried his hands, disregarding the curses that Qin Feng had racked his brains for, and strolled out of the bathroom.

It was already deep into the night, the wind that blew in his face chilled him to the bone.

It had been snowing continuously for the past several days, but Gu Yan only wore a T-shirt with a black suit. He had to put his best face forward, which meant that he could only keep the form and leave the warm[1].

He didn’t think back to Qin Feng’s words.

He rubbed at the palm of his right hand, and tried his best to forget the warmth from when a certain someone had draped the coat over his body.

Next came nonstop work again.

It was mostly for the movie that was about to be released. He flew between multiple metropolitan cities to promote it. It was a teen idol movie. The male lead that Gu Yan played was rich and handsome, the female lead, on the other hand, came from nothing and had an innocent personality. The two of them were enemies[2] at the start, and later caught feelings and gradually fell in love. A very cliche, boring plot, but they had a good handle on their target audience, and had scheduled the movie’s run around Valentine’s day. It should draw in lots of young couples.

Gu Yan didn’t go watch the premiere. He only bought a ticket two days later. He wore sunglasses and held a bucket of popcorn, and walked into the movie theater along with the crowd. The ones who came to watch the movie were all lovers. He sat in a pitch-dark corner by himself, looking a bit out of place.

But he watched it so attentively.

Without sounding narcissistic, his blown-up face on the movie screen was very pretty. It’s just that his acting was so awful. Wooden look in the eyes, indifferent tone of voice, there wasn’t even much of an expression when he whispered sweet nothings. It really was like he was persevering[3] in shitty acting. Whatever he acted ended up being himself. The plot of the movie flowed rather well though, and rapidly approached its climax. He was kissing the female lead as he said, “I love you”, his besotted expression more awkward looking than anything else.

Gu Yan stuffed popcorn into his mouth nonstop, he stared at that handsome face playing the flower vase, and laughed until he was almost in tears.

He’s only acted out one play properly in his life.

That was pretending he didn’t love that person.

Xiao’s Comments: Fuck, I’m not sad, who’s sad?!

Translator’s Notes:

[1] There isn’t a good way to translate this phrase, as it’s a Chinese wordplay. 风度 (fengdu) means one’s style, mannerisms, and grace, 温度(wendu) means literally “temperature”, or in this case, being warm (since it’s cold and snowing). It’s a lot cuter in Chinese, as both words end in “du”, and this is the closest approximation (but it’s not as cute in English)

[2] Literally “comedic foes”, it’s basically the trope “enemies to lovers”

[3] Chinese idiom; literally “ten years like a day”, referring to someone persevering on long term work, with “ten years” worth of repetitive work that was the same everyday.

Flower Vase: Chapter 15

Flower Vase: Chapter 15

Gu Yan had a long, long dream.

He dreamed about some things when he was younger. At the time he truly was naive, so innocent it bordered on ignorance. He stupidly believed anything others said. He thought that he could make money if he entered the entertainment industry, so he walked into it without a care in the world… then it all turned upside down.

He only knew regret after he signed the contract, but by then it was too late for him to break free. Not to mention, he really had needed the money.

Before then, he was completely focused on becoming a chef. He had absolutely no idea how to act. He was scolded at every turn, he could never remember his lines, he… he was so stubborn too, not knowing how to admit defeat or back down, so he always had injuries on his body.

He still remembered the most difficult of those times, he would film on set during the day, and at night he still had to take other jobs. Every morning he would buy two baozi[1]. He would eat the dough and keep the filling. Then at night he would eat the filling as a side with plain rice. He would eat the boxed lunches that the film crew provided at noon. Entire months were full of the same bitter taste.

Under such deep waters, and such scorching flames[2], only one person reached out a hand to him.

He could never forget the trace of warmth passing through those fingertips. He used to be such a weak person, but because he fell in love with Qin Zhiyuan, he gradually grew stronger.

He kept his eyes on the prize.

He was full of patience.

He had come all this way, he only needed to reach out his hand, then he could have grasped that thing which he had yearned for all this time.

Gu Yan reached out a trembling hand, yet he suddenly felt a strange, piercing pain emanating from his palm.

Then he awoke from his dream with a start. He noticed that he was wearing a loose hospital gown as he lay in the snow-white hospital room. His right hand was bandaged, his left hand had an IV attached to it.

His memories from the car crash floated in front of his eyes.

For a long time, Gu Yan was in a trance, until he slowly came back to himself. His right hand was hurt, he didn’t even have the strength to clench his hand to make a fist. He knew that his dream had ended.

…Completely.

After that, Xiao Chen came in to take care of him, only then did Gu Yan find out that they were transferred back to their home city from City A to receive medical treatment not long after the car accident. The Qin family had unilaterally made the arrangements, the best hospital, the best sick wards.

Although the car accident had been terrifying in the moment, the good thing was that everyone had survived. Zhao Xin had the most serious injuries, but he was already out of the critical stage. For the time being he lay in ICU. Zhang Qi was sitting the farthest away, so he only had some minor scrapes and a concussion. Gu Yan’s right arm was broken and covered with a thick cast. His hand was pierced through by a tree branch, and had quite a number of stitches. As for Qin Zhiyuan, he had extensive bruising. Apparently, when he was rescued, he looked dreadful with blood running down his face.

Gu Yan finally breathed a sigh of relief when he heard this. When he was feeling slightly better, he first went to visit Zhao Xin who was still in a coma. Inside the silent hospital room, there was a woman with a gentle air about her sitting quietly by the bedside, she wore an engagement ring in the same style as Zhao Xin’s on her hand.

This must be the legendary fiancee.

Gu Yan blessed Lady Luck once again. This car accident hadn’t created any irreversible sorrows. He didn’t go inside to disturb them further, but turned away to go see Qin Zhiyuan in the hospital room next door.

Qin Zhiyuan with bandages wrapped around his head made for a novel sight. Gu Yan looked at him while standing in the doorway, and couldn’t help but laugh. Qin Zhiyuan still couldn’t get out of bed to walk around, he could only sit up halfway, and beckoned a hand towards him.

So Gu Yan walked inside, one step after another.

The rays from the autumn sun shone through the window, its warm golden strands spilling across the entire bed, adding to the warm and serene atmosphere.

Qin Zhiyuan peered at Gu Yan’s right hand, he asked, “Does it hurt?”

Gu Yan immediately shook his head, “It’s not as bad as your injury.”

“The car accident made it into the press, but they didn’t mention anything unnecessary. You can just relax, it won’t affect your image.”

Gu Yan had never worried about that. He was more concerned about something else. His fake smiling ability had leveled up again, so that he could smile even at a time like this. He said, “Can I ask you a few questions?”

Qin Zhiyuan was already prepared to face his questioning. He said softly, “Of course.”

“The night of the wrap party, when you went outside to take the call, did you happen to see Director Zhao proposing to his girlfriend?”

“Mm hmm, I wasn’t expecting that kind of coincidence either.”

“You were feeling down that night, was it because of this?”

Qin Zhiyuan didn’t answer him directly, he only said, “There were various circumstances.”

“Those photo albums you were sorting in your study… it’s all Director Zhao’s pictures?”

“We’ve known each other since high school, we took lots of pictures together.”

“Then does he know of…” Gu Yan paused, it was a bit difficult to voice his next words, “Your feelings?”

“Zhao Xin only likes women.” Qin Zhiyuan’s answer didn’t come effortlessly either.

Gu Yan nodded, he thought that this storyline wasn’t too far off from what he had guessed. Childhood friends, innocent playmates, one harboring a secret crush, the other completely clueless. No wonder Qin Zhiyuan was only willing to spend money to buy bed-mates, but was never willing to give anyone his heart. It’s not that he didn’t believe in love, it’s that he was unable to give voice to the secret love hidden at the bottom of his heart.

He seemed to be affectionate towards everyone, the truth of the matter was that he had affections toward none.

Gu Yan still had one last unsolved question. He hesitated for a minute, and finally asked it, “When you suddenly appeared in City A that day, was it really because you had only come to see me?”

Or…was it for Zhao Xin?

Qin Zhiyuan went silent for a moment.

A long, long time passed, so long that Gu Yan thought he wasn’t going to answer him. Only then did he raise his head to look at Gu Yan, his voice soft yet wistful, “It’s not as if I’ve never said anything from the bottom of my heart.”

Gu Yan nodded to show his understanding.

Of course, no one was the bad guy. What reason did Qin Zhiyuan have to play with his feelings? It’s just that he had just had his heart broken, he couldn’t stand the pain of loss, and he sorely needed someone to fill in the vacuum. That’s why he transferred all of his tumultuous passions onto him instead. Only he had fallen so eagerly and desperately, that it became a castle in the sky[3] instead, turning into smoke and mirrors in the blink of an eye.

Qin Zhiyuan had so many people by his side, why had he chosen him, Gu Yan, in particular? Was he especially dumb, was he especially stupid, or was it because he especially, especially loved him?

Gu Yan thought about it over and over, but he never asked it out loud.

It was enough to have the conversation come this far. If he continued to question him, it would only be mortifying for the both of them.

He was careful, laying down his plans every step of the way, he only wanted to tear away Qin Zhiyuan’s false pretenses, to reach out and touch his heart. He hadn’t known his heart was already occupied by another person.

He’d thought he was the male lead, and it turned out that he couldn’t even be considered the male supporting character. He was only an extra.

Now that the act was completed, what else did he have to think about? Gu Yan didn’t say anything further, he only politely expressed his concern for Qin Zhiyuan’s injury, then he turned away and walked back to his own hospital room.

Who could he blame for getting hurt?

First, he needed to blame himself. It was him who wasn’t smart enough or strong enough, that gave other people the opening to cheat and swindle and lie. A fall in the pit is a gain for your wit. The next time you run into a trap, you wouldn’t have such a pitiful fall.

So, Gu Yan reflected upon it seriously, and in the following days, he quietly stayed in bed to recuperate.

Xiao Chen hurried in and out everyday, he did a good job taking care of Gu Yan though. Plus, he was able to provide whatever kind of gossip to amuse him on demand, saving him from boredom during his recovery.

The wound on Gu Yan’s hand quickly healed. When the bandages were removed, there remained a scar in the middle of his palm. The shape actually resembled a heart when examined closely. Gu Yan thought it was funny, but he no longer had the strength to even put on a smile.

Qin Zhiyuan had recovered rather quickly, it hadn’t taken him long to be discharged by the hospital. But he still rushed to the hospital every single day. While the majority of his time was spent keeping watch by someone’s bedside, at least he would come by to see Gu Yan every single time. He sent over all kinds of supplements without end, and continued with his image of the perfect lover.

Gu Yan didn’t refuse his attentiveness. The two of them still talked to each other like before. But they had reached a tacit agreement, neither of them mentioned the most sensitive topic.

The day that he was discharged from the hospital, it was also Qin Zhiyuan who came by to pick him up.

Perhaps it was the aftereffects of the car accident, Qin Zhiyuan drove very slowly and steadily the entire way. He stopped at a stoplight, then turned to ask him, “Where do you want to go eat tonight?”

“No need,” Gu Yan lazily stared at the space in front of him, “Let’s go back to your condo first. I have some things I need to gather up.”

Qin Zhiyuan’s expression shifted slightly.

Right at that moment the light turned green, he then tightened his grip on the steering wheel, stepped on the gas and drove forward.

When they got home, it was already nightfall.

Most of Gu Yan’s things were bought by Qin Zhiyuan. He didn’t actually have many personal belongings, it only took ten odd minutes for him to finish getting everything together. But he took care to make a round in the study. The cardboard box piled with photo albums and notebooks was still in the corner. Qin Zhiyuan had sorted it all out a very long time ago, but he could never make up his mind and properly deal with it. Just like how he thought he had already cleared out his heart, but in reality, that place had never been empty.

Gu Yan walked over and rummaged through it. He found out that Qin Zhiyuan really did know how to write love letters. The notebooks were filled with them, he had a beautiful writing style as well. Because it dealt with his personal privacy, he didn’t read further, but opened the photo albums instead. They were full of Qin Zhiyuan and Zhao Xin’s pictures together, from when they were students all the way to when they stepped into society[4].  Qin Zhiyuan’s looks gradually changed from youthfulness to maturity. The only thing that never changed was the soft look in his eyes.

And his smile.

The subtle, refined smile on his face was entirely different from his usual when he was gazing at Zhao Xin. That was a truly joyful look. If he had seen this kind of Qin Zhiyuan earlier, would he still have fallen in love with him with no regrets?

Gu Yan couldn’t answer that.

He only felt pain slowly twisting in his heart, he dipped his head lower and lower, and planted a light kiss on Qin Zhiyuan’s smiling eyes in the photograph.

By the time he stepped out of the study, Gu Yan had already put his emotions in order, he spoke to Qin Zhiyuan who was sitting on the couch, “President Qin, it’s about time for me to go.”

Qin Zhiyuan understood what this “go” meant, he quickly came forward, pulling Gu Yan into a hug.

“Do you really have to go?”

“I’ve never moved in.” If he hadn’t said “I love you”, perhaps he could still sweetly play lovebirds with Qin Zhiyuan. But now? Even an Academy winner[5] couldn’t finish this act.

Qin Zhiyuan still held onto him, he whispered by his ear, “Look, we’ve already finished remodeling the house. As long as we forget about the whole car accident thing, we can still go on like from before.”

Gu Yan didn’t struggle, he said in a calm voice, “Do you remember that you still owe me those words? Can you really say them now?”

Qin Zhiyuan’s hands around Gu Yan’s waist stiffened.

He was this hopeless perfectionist, and it was rare for him to be so out of sorts. He buried his face in Gu Yan’s neck dejectedly, “…so close, just a little further.”

He tried really hard too, but he used his strength all wrong, he was always just one step away.

This small divide was more like a yawning chasm.

Gu Yan’s palm ached dully, he slowly pried open Qin Zhiyuan’s hands.

He was holding on tightly, but Gu Yan’s resolve was stronger. The look in Qin Zhiyuan’s eyes dimmed, he stared at his empty arms, and sighed, “Wait a bit for me.”

He turned back and entered the room, and pulled out a long coat from the wardrobe, shook it loose and draped it over Gu Yan as he said, “It’s winter already, it might snow in the next few days.”

Gu Yan obediently put on the coat.

Qin Zhiyuan leaned down, and very carefully buttoned every button one by one. He finally stroked Gu Yan’s shoulder and stuffed a debit card into his pocket, “The password is your birthday.”

Ah, he’s even got the break-up fee all ready.

It was obvious that although he wanted to convince Gu Yan to stay, he also knew that the attempt would definitely fail. This was the way he did things, he would always prepare a way out ahead of time, always putting himself in the safest position.

He would never dare to take risks for love.

Gu Yan knew Qin Zhiyuan only too well. He knew that he was quite generous, the number on the card would definitely be to his satisfaction. Since he couldn’t get the guy, then he may as well take the money. It wasn’t as if he should lose both, right?

Gu Yan thought of those TV series filmed from before. When the female lead was thrown away, they all loved to scream with tears streaming down their faces, I’ve given everything to you, I’ve bared my soul to you[6], I’ve spent all of my youth on you… How ridiculous. Weren’t you the one to give everything on your own? Weren’t you the one who bared your soul yourself[7]? As for youth, whether you met that person or not, those times would’ve passed by all the same.

So, he readily accepted the card, and gazed at Qin Zhiyuan through half-closed eyes as he said, “Thank you for being with me for all these years.”

Translator’s Notes:

[1] Baozi: a type of Chinese bun, usually made of white flour with some kind of filling inside (can be meat or vegetables). Of course there are expensive variations, but usually you can buy either one or two with one Chinese yuan, especially if it’s street food (1 USD is around 7 yuan)

[2] Chinese idiom, “水深火热”, referring to an extremely stressful and difficult situation, literally “deep waters and scorching flames”

[3] Literally “mirage”, but the Chinese words for it are more poetic, more like “a city on the ocean”, implying a very unrealistic and unattainable dream or goal,  so I think “castle in the sky” is a better fit here.

[4] Chinese idiom for growing into an adult; something equivalent in English would be, “become a working member of society”.

[5] Literally, “the emperor of film”, it’s a title usually reserved for the male winner of the most prestigious film awards.

[6] Chinese idiom, literally “to dig out one’s heart and lungs”, implying to give everything but especially, to give one’s heart to someone else in love.

[7] The second half mirrors the previous idiom, literally, “weren’t you the one who dug out your own heart? Weren’t you the one who dug out your own lungs?” I thought this approximation may be easier to read.

Transmigrated into the World of “Demon Lord Wu Zun” Chapter 47

Chapter 47: Exposed

After that, none of the girls dared to come over again. Without the girl’s melodious chatter and laughter, Gu Bai’s surroundings seemed deserted and cold.

Qi Guan Rui acted as an attendant on one hand, and laughed breezily on the other. It didn’t even seem like he was doing the work of serving someone else at all.

From afar, girls would pass by from time to time and see the two. Their eyes would light up instantly, and they’d want to walk over.

But the next second, they would be stopped by another girl, and the following conversation would commence.

“What’s wrong, there’s some good stuff over there, why not go over?”

“That’s a pair of queer-bags.”

“……what a waste of two handsome faces.”

And then, and then there was no more “and then”.

Half an hour passed by just like that, and under the expectantly raised heads of the lustful guys, a few charming figures finally landed on the tall platform.

The girls had come on stage!

And so, the flower viewing convention… had officially begun.

These oiran[1] competition-like plots were well liked in novels, whether in Mary Sue[2] stories or harem texts. The difference was that the former always let themselves shine, particularly in performing their talents, and won the love of countless beautiful men. The latter involved a group of girls showcasing their beauty, and the protagonist got all their love at the end.

They’re completely different in their origins  ╮(╯▽╰)╭

Gu Bai was writing a harem novel, so the talent stuff was most definitely not the focus of his composition. Even if there was talent, it was just to serve as a foil for beauty.

For instance, a girl just started to dance, but she wasn’t wearing many clothes, her body was top of the range sexy. Another girl was singing, and while she was singing, she had to be winking and moving her waist seductively… that’s an enchantment. Yet another girl was playing the flute, and when she blew it, she had to be playfully teasing… cloyingly flirtatious to the point people’s hearts itched in desire.

Even if there was a pure-looking girl, she needed to have voluptuous XX, round XX, and a trembling XX. A slightly less attractive girl would definitely have skin paler than snow and smooth to the touch, not to mention, something along the lines of fiery red lips and blue enchantress hydrangeas. No matter what, the description had to be blazingly spicy so people would become uncontrollably excited when they read it. Of course, there was also the exception to the rule, the cold, indifferent girl who refused on the surface, but actually welcomed it on the down low. They were self-confident and prideful, a typical goddess character whose masochistic personality was fulfilled by men submissively kneeling to their desires. To put it bluntly, it was all to service womanly charms.

Up above, a lot of Baihuamen’s female disciples were brilliantly talented, their performances were sharp and incisive.

Most of the spectators below had a(¯﹃¯)appearance, with eyes that showed they would kill to jump on stage right that second.

Gu Bai’s face was paralyzed, he watched very seriously.

He recalled several years later that the scene of the flower viewing convention was depicted after he’d browsed countless sex films in order to achieve such a lewd portrayal. But watching it now… it actually wasn’t all that bad in comparison.

……to be honest, it was even hotter than what he wrote, this was great material!

Too bad he’d transmigrated.

Otherwise, he would’ve received a frenzied wave of subscribers!

Gu Bai was in a trance, pitying his inability to start a new plot, while Qi Guan Rui kept looking at Gu Bai.

He looked up, down, outside, in…… he couldn’t see inside.

Qi Guan Rui also glanced around. A lot of the horny guys had already exposed their ugly side, even the ones with stronger persistence had flushed faces and hurried breathing.

Only Zi Che Shu Bai…… except for also watching without blinking…… had no reaction.

Say, this lack of reaction……. what exactly was this reaction?

Qi Guan Rui frowned slightly.

Speaking of which, he and Zi Che Shu Bai had shared the same bed, same pillow for so long, and he’s indeed never seen a reaction.

Logically speaking, Zi Che Shu Bai’s body had already matured, he should have reactions where reactions should be.

But contrary to expectations, he just didn’t…… this couldn’t help but make others wonder if he had a secret illness.

And if he did have a secret illness……

Qi Guan Rui laughed all of a sudden.

Maybe it was better to have a secret illness, then Zi Che Shu Bai would have no desire for women, and he’d naturally have to accept him.

As long as he had enough means, everything would come naturally.

He always had a way to make Zi Che Shu Bai live with him merrily.

……actually, Gu Bai, who didn’t know he’d been deemed to have erectile dysfunction by someone else, was just helplessly frigid.

The root cause lay in the martial arts that he practiced.

The typical martial artist has always been masculine. After practicing martial arts, the body was filled with energy and essence, and they became even more vigorous in those matters.

But Gu Bai practiced ice characteristic techniques, and he also used attack methods with ice attributes.

Think about it, no matter how vivacious “it” was, dumping a whole bucket of ice-cold water down there……

Hiss~~~

Practicing that martial art was a process of being repeatedly doused with ice water. Even if a wolf came over late at night, the finale would still end up with it being withered away, okay.

It was better to just not have “it” from the start.

Being an otaku who only liked two-dimensional characters, Gu Bai showed no signs of pressure at all.

If there was nothing, then there was nothing, he wasn’t planning on approaching girls anyway.

Qi Guan Rui gazed gently at Gu Bai; his heart had already turned over lots of thoughts.

With greed in his gaze, he covertly raked his eyes all over Gu Bai’s body, and quickly retracted it before Gu Bai noticed.

Patience…… patience.

If Zi Che Shu Bai didn’t have “it”, then he wouldn’t be tainted by anyone else.

And he was still unsure if he could completely control Zi Che Shu Bai at the moment, he also didn’t have enough power to guard against Tian Du Cheng.

He truly didn’t want to see Zi Chu Shu Bai look at him with disgusted eyes, but…… if it really got to that point, even if was hated, he still wanted to have him in his hands.

Or, trapped in bed.

He mustn’t let him get away.

The two had vastly different thoughts on their minds, and their brain circuits had, once again, not aligned.

The girls on stage were exceedingly beautiful, and it looked as if they were about to set off a small round of……

Suddenly, dozens of figures leaped out from the nearby trees and flower bushes!

These figures moved extremely fast, each shadow was like a ghost, accompanied by fierce wind sounds.

Because they came out so fast, a lot of people were caught off guard. The princes and guys who’d come to “view flowers” were here for fun, so although they had bodyguards, they were pretty much entranced by beauty and reacted one or two seconds slower than normal.

Just those one or two degrees, posed a huge issue.

The figures flew past, taking down the bodyguards blocking the path in a couple seconds……… some even ducked right past the bodyguards, and devoured the pampered princes, one by one.

That’s right, they were devoured.

It was the ‘tearing out the flesh, holding the organs, ripping open the forehead, and chewing on the brains’ type of devouring.

This devouring turned the flower viewing convention into a battlefield, in an instant, the smell of blood permeated everywhere.

Broken limbs and the remnants of bodies were strewn across the floor and sounds of chewing were still present…… can it not be so scary!

Where would the Baihuamen girls have seen such a ruckus? They were performing happily, and then the audience suddenly turned into a horror film scene, they’d be mentally superb if they weren’t already scared to death.

But even so, they still bundled into a trembling clump, and then somebody screamed, and ran off the other way.

The corner of Gu Bai’s mouth twitched.

What fucking bad luck.

I’m not a nerd for death, why the fuck does shit always hit the fan wherever I go?!

At that moment, he finally remembered that the sadistic protagonist had indeed heard about the “tragic past” of this school when he came to the Baihuamen scene.

Yes, another tragic backstory.

It was said that when Baihuamen was once at their peak, they ran into a catastrophe at a flower viewing convention that nearly wiped out their entire school. And many of the participants who had passed away had powerful backgrounds, causing severe turmoil in many cities.

And this incident was caused by the Mo Ren!

It was also this incident that would kick off the prelude to large-scale conflicts between the Mo Ren and the martial practitioners from then on.

Undoubtedly, Gu Bai unluckily encountered this incident.

And watched a horror film live.

Gu Bai looked silently towards Qi Guan Rui.

Qi Guan Rui returned a gentle smile.

Gu Bai sighed, reached out to pull Qi Guan Rui, and hid him behind his back.

Sorry girls, while I want to save you guys too, it’s clear that I only have the means to take care of Gu Xiao Shan right now.

No wonder it was a tragedy, the Mo Ren here are all mid ranked Wu Jun and above, it’d be bizarre if it weren’t fucking tragic!

The Mo Ren’s eyes were crimson red, it was apparent they hadn’t eaten flesh in many days. Aside from just wreaking havoc, I’m afraid they also came here with the intention of instilling frightened shock.

They ate quickly, finishing off the princes and bodyguards within moments. Some of the Mo Ren simply ran after the girls that hadn’t gotten far yet.

……of course, some girls did escape, otherwise, who would’ve spread the word of the Mo Ren’s terrors?

But the girls that were slow, they could only be captured and eaten alive.

The place was a complete mess, only Gu Bai protecting Qi Guan Rui allowed them to be spick and span.

Gu Bai helplessly punched through a Mo Ren’s stomach, tossed him to the side, and turned to start on yet another Mo Ren.

There was nothing he could do. He was now surrounded by seven to eight Mo Ren. Even if he were overwhelmed with strength, he still wouldn’t be able to solve the problem quickly.

What’s more, he had to protect Gu Xiao Shan. Unknowingly, he fell into a heavy encirclement.

Being securely protected by Gu Bai, Qi Guan Rui’s state of mind was complicated.

Zi Che Shu Bai really was something, even when their lives were in danger, he didn’t abandon him……

But precisely so, it made him want to have him all for himself…… no matter what.

No one else could look at him, touch him, or even think of having him.

Gu Bai concentrated on his attacks, a thin layer of ice had gathered around the palms of his hands, there was also a layer of frost on his hair and eyebrows.

This was the sign that his force has been coruscating to an extreme, he was gradually using all his power, as he wanted to create a path to get away.

His movements were still so elegant, so crisp and beautiful, yet also so high above the masses…… perfectly flawless. He didn’t seem like he was desperately fighting others, but like he was strolling through flowers. He appeared to be calm and leisurely, without a hint of uncertainty.

But in Gu Bai’s heart, he was seriously at a loss, okay!

Who knew he’d run into such a major event just by coming out to watch a fucking flower convention? Now that he was surrounded…… how did he escape? Ahhhh!

It would’ve been fine if it were just him, but there was still a weakling behind him waiting to be protected!

If it were someone else, he’d have left them without feeling much burden, but Gu Xiao Shan was his only family/brother/friend/housemaid in this world, he couldn’t leave him behind! Am I going to die here today…… hey, let me find a way out, ahh!

And behind him, Qi Guan Rui also finally made up his mind.

If Zi Che Shu Bai was willing to do this for him…… then maybe, some things will be okay to tell Zi Che Shu Bai.

He couldn’t let himself and Zi Che Shu Bai die here, there were still a lot of things he wanted to do with Zi Che Shu Bai.

Thinking of this, Qi Guan Rui swung his body, and immediately came to Gu Bai’s side.

Gu Bai was stunned, that was fast!

Qi Guan Rui said softly: “Gege, I have a way.”

Gu Bai overthrew a Mo Ren, and turned his head: “What way?”

Qi Guan Rui smiled slightly, opened his palms, and released more than a dozen dark shadows.

The shadows were thin, like venomous snakes, shooting straight out.

Gu Bai looked at the thing, then looked at Qi Guan Rui, then looked at the thing, and back at Qi Guan Rui.

Wasn’t!  That!  The!  Snake!  Voodoo!

I! Wouldn’t! Forget! Even! If! I! Died!

There was a “buzz” sound in his brain.

The crazy protagonist equals Gu Xiao Shan the crazy protagonist equals Gu Xiao Shan the crazy protagonist equals Gu Xiao Shan!

What the fuck?!

Gu Bai felt as if he had just been smacked with a screen of blood by the malicious universe!

Proofreader’s comments: Oh lord this part made me laugh, “……actually, Gu Bai, who didn’t know he’d been deemed to have erectile dysfunction by someone else, was just helplessly frigid.

The root cause, lies in the martial arts that he practices.”
I don’t know if it was deliberate on the author’s part, but root can also be used instead of the word dick.

Xiao’s Comments: Ahahaha…run!

Translator’s Notes:

[1] The term “oiran” refers to a category of high ranking courtesans in Japanese history. They were considered to be of higher rank than common prostitutes, and were distinguished by their skills in the traditional arts of singing, dance, and music.

[2] A Mary Sue girl refers to an unrealistically perfect female protagonist (good looks, good background, skilled in everything, etc.) lacking in flaws, who makes many other characters fall in love with her. This is directly opposite to a harem male, who is fought over by many girls and drowned in their affection.
