Chapter 37: Accidentally Entering the Cave
It was the first time that Qi Guan Rui had ever seen him showing so much strength, domineering power, and raging in anger, as expected, he was entranced again → Eh, why did I say “again”?
The chick that fell on the floor was also gaped mouth, her eyes wide from watching, speaking of that, the ferocious beast that had just chased her over two mountains was finished off so easily? It didn’t make sense!
As Gu Bai’s white clothes landed on the ground gradually, he was filled with regrets.
Fuck, I overdid it!
They’d only killed one Wu Jun level beast in the few days they’d been here, now that they’d finally found another by a rare chance, he just freaking snapped and broke it into pieces, that was truly a waste.
The worst was that he’d killed his own image completely.
Since there was too little time earlier, Gu Bai ran out after hurriedly putting on a robe, not only did he not have the high-above and untouchable image like usual, he was disheveled, clothes in a mess, basically undressed[1]……he didn’t even have the face to talk on the matter of him not wearing any shoes.
Due to things having already escalated to this point, it wouldn’t do much good for him to change with the chick there, so he just pulled his outer coat together more securely, then walked over to Qi Guan Rui’s side.
At that time, the ‘beauty from a small family’ chick had already got up from the ground, fixing her clothes as well.
Following, she showed her gratitude very openly with a bow, “I thank for the two’s help, or else my life wouldn’t have been safe!”
Gu Bai glanced at her and became even more stoic.
His thought went like this: ‘I’m so stupid, seriously. I only thought about checking the area around here carefully before bathing, but never did I think a chick could run in in the middle of me bathing!’
With the current situation, he would’ve been very glad if it was just a normal chick, but why did the chick have to be someone he was very familiar with?!
The Beauty of the Sea, Qin Jiao, a person who had the bloodline of the Ancient Jiao[2] Clan, once they entered the water, they could transform into a Jiao Ren. This allowed them to swim through the deep sea freely, their strength underwater greatly surpassed their strength on land.
She was one of the Eight Great Beauties of the psycho protagonist’s harem. Originally, she had had an open personality but due to some unknown shock factor, by the time she met the psycho protagonist she’d already stopped trusting all men in the world and became a person who only did things for her own benefit and wants. But in the end, after the psycho protagonist saved her a few times and went through life and death situations with her with purposeful intentions, she obviously melted for him. In later days, she also made a great contribution to the protagonist by helping him to seek out treasures in a few Mystical Caves[3] when traveling in the deep ocean with him.
Long story short, she was a very useful woman to the protagonist.
Gu Bai understood it very well just then, in the original novel, he only simply mentioned that Qin Jiao only became so untrusting towards others because no one acknowledged her when she was in danger and begging for help. As for today’s situation, that was obviously the “shock” that caused it.
According to the original, neither Gu Bai or Qi Guan Rui should’ve been there at that time, when Qin Jiao finally ran to this place, it was after she’d pleaded many times and received no help. With nowhere else to run, she’d probably jumped into the spring water, accidentally awakening her bloodline, allowing her to swim through the spring water quickly to escape.
What were they gonna do now? Qin Jiao hadn’t jumped in the water so her bloodline wouldn’t be awakened, they also saved her so she wouldn’t have complete disappointment in humanity, then how was the psycho protagonist gonna make her trust only him for the rest of her life?!
He wondered if there would be any effect if he just kicked her into the water right now…Gu Bai only thought of it for a moment before he immediately shook the thought off.
What a joke, even if Qin Jiao awakened after getting kicked, she wouldn’t be thankful towards the one who kicked her. What were they gonna do if she ended up holding hatred for them because of it and tattletaled to the psycho protagonist? It was needed to note that what pushed the stallion protagonists’ plot forward the most on that website was them seeking revenge for their women, killing them, and their whole family!
How would Gu Bai dare…
All of a sudden, Gu Bai was facing a dilemma.
On the other hand, Qin Jiao suddenly didn’t feel really good, seeing that her savior wouldn’t pay attention to her.
Qi Guan Rui expressed joy from it.
He had never been a gentleman, even more so on things related to Zi Ju Shu Bai, he wouldn’t back off for anyone.
So, he just allowed the atmosphere to get awkward……it’d be the best to make the woman hate Zi Ju Shu Bai, making sure she definitely wouldn’t have any thoughts of marrying him as gratitude.
As a result, the three stood in a line with no one speaking at all.
Gu Bai quickly came back to his senses, “You can leave now.”
Qi Guan Rui’s eyes slightly squinted from hearing that.
With his understanding of Zi Ju Shu Bai, of course, he was able to hear some kind of complicated emotions mixed in there.
Could it be that Zi Ju Shu Bai was the one who had some kind of feeling for that woman?
In that instant, his mood darkened.
Qi Guan Rui looked at Zi Ju Shu Bai, even though the sky was still very bright at the time, under the backlight, no one could see the dullness in his eyes. He spoke with a very kind voice, “Gege, this miss has some injuries, why don’t we just let her travel with us? Either way, we’re gonna go to the mountain in front, we’ll take her down the mountain on the way then she can leave.” As he spoke, he looked at Qin Jiao again, “What does the miss think?”
He wanted to see just what made that woman worthy of causing Zi Ju Shu Bai to view her differently.
A good look + good voice + soft smile, it instantly comforted the chick’s heart that’d been hurt by Gu Bai’s ice-cold attitude.
Qin Jiao’s face flushed slightly, “If the two don’t mind, then it would naturally be the best…”
Gu Bai choked immediately, words stuck like a breath of air in his chest, not coming out.
Gu Xiao Shan, you stupid child, chasing the psycho protagonist’s harem member away was hard enough, yet you’re wanting her to stay, are you interested in this chick as well?!
Hun, please think more open-mindedly, even if you’re going through adolescent love, you gotta find a reliable partner, there is no good end to stealing the psycho protagonist’s chick, you gotta calm down!
But no matter how much Gu Bai roared internally, he couldn’t speak those thoughts out loud.
Plus, Qi Guan Rui and that chick had already made an agreement, he shouldn’t make it embarrassing for Qi Guan Rui.
So, he could only swallow a mouthful of blood silently and endure as they traveled together with the chick.
Even though the mountain was tall, with everyone being martial practitioners, it wasn’t too hard of a walk.
But as everyone knew, accidents would always occur inadvertently ╮(╯▽╰)╭
Gu Bai kept his stoic face on as he looked at the closely shut wall in front, feeling very defeated inside.
Ah, an Inheritance Cave[4].
Just what kind of shitty luck was this, did they receive the unexpected encounters[5] that belonged to the protagonist just by having the protagonist’s chick by their sides?
……Even if that was the case, the chick they had wasn’t the right one either!
After coming back to his senses, Gu Bai looked at the chick behind him to see a strange look in her eyes.
He followed her gaze, lowering his head to finally realize that an arm was wrapped around his waist.
Once Qi Guan Rui saw that he couldn’t continue eating his tofu, he quirked his brows as he let go, “I almost got separated from Gege, good thing we didn’t.”
Gu Bai suddenly understood, so it was the fault of the trap just now.
Let us pull the scene back to two minutes earlier……
Even though Gu Bai and Qi Guan Rui helping the chick down the mountain wasn’t something he was willing to, he had agreed to it, so there was no way he couldn’t do it, right? So, he was pretty credible at his job.
The chick wasn’t a rowdy person, she was also very cautious on the road. But Gu Bai knew that the chick wasn’t a student of the Qing Tian Academy, so he didn’t bring up his own identity either……it was always better to have one less problem than one more. After all, with his unapproachable flower from high above figure standing there, he should just act colder.
Qi Guan Rui ended up chatting with the chick, his kind voice and humorous talks had the chick chuckling delicately, look, her eyes looking towards him had become more ambiguous! That made Gu Bai extremely worried, trying to become the ex-boyfriend of a chick from the protagonist’s harem, that’s the steady rhythm of becoming a cannon fodder…
Yet he·just·couldn’t·say·anything!
Heck!
In this way, Gu Bai struggled while walking as Qi Guan Rui on the other end, flirted with the chick…ah no, talking with the chick, while observing Gu Bai’s reactions.
He found that Gu Bai didn’t make any reactions in general…okay, maybe there were some reactions, but they weren’t the ones that Qi Guan Rui was worried about. So he conversed with the chick even more happily…the situation was great so far anyway, he should continue to keep it up, not allowing the chick to have any chance of flirting with the person he had his eye set on.
Maybe because all three of them had thoughts occupying their minds, they weren’t paying much attention to their surroundings. As they went down the mountain, when the chick reached out her hand to pull a random branch aside, she accidentally kicked a rock or something under her foot.
Suddenly, beneath their feet, a huge, pitch-black hole appeared.
In the next moment, they were all sucked in by the huge hole.
That’s right, it sucked and they didn’t fall.
Violent winds swirled up in the hole, blowing the three people into different places.
How could Qi Guan Rui allow Gu Bai to leave his sight? He reached out his hand to embrace the other around the waist without any hesitation.
As for the chick, she also had fast reflexes, just as she was about to be separated from the group, she grabbed onto Qi Guan Rui’s leg and went in the same direction as them
In the end, the three people stood in one cave as the audience would expect.
That’s right, for any novels that were remotely close to ancient time settings, for example, cultivation, xianxia, wuxia, power-is-authority types of novel, the encounters of adventure in the caves will never be excluded.
No matter if it was a big or small cave, whether there was a dead person or dead soul inside, the protagonist and the cave will always have an inexplicable fate.
So, let us pull the scene back again.
Gu Bai sighed inside, actually, his memory wasn’t too good, he did recognize the character settings and some important adventures from his first novel, but he didn’t clearly remember some details. Plus, he didn’t plan on stealing any lucky encounters from the protagonist, which was why he didn’t care how much he remembered anyways.
But this time, he didn’t even need to figure it out seriously before instantly understanding, he had accidentally entered the lucky encounter cave that originally belonged to the protagonist.
……You ask how?
That was obviously because the words “The Qian Kun Person’s Tomb”[6] were carved right on the stone tablet in front of the stone wall!
Under those few words, there was tiny little writing the eyes could barely see.
Gu Bai spoke without any expression, “We’re gonna find the trigger and leave.”
The other two were very puzzled.
The cave had many stone doors, plus the stone tablet that could make one think it was definitely something powerful even if they couldn’t understand it, no matter how one looked at it, this seemed like a place where one could find some good stuff.
Under normal circumstances, shouldn’t they search the place? What was he hurrying back for?
Qi Guan Rui and Qin Jiao both looked at Gu Bai.
Gu Bai also felt very helpless.
Yeah, this was a cave with a lucky encounter, but that lucky encounter fucking belonged to his “own son” okay? If all the goods here get swallowed by them, then isn’t his psycho son gonna return empty-handed when he comes here in the future?
If it didn’t affect the plot too much then it would’ve been fine, but the key was, this cave was supposed to further a relationship for his psycho son!
If this cave was gone, then his son’s harem’s gonna be missing a highly valued beauty!
And as for the things in this cave…
To be honest, they were also pretty creepy.

GB: The protagonist is a psycho but he’s still my son.
QGR: I think of you as a lover, but you think of yourself as my dad (゜ロ゜)!!
Xiao’s Comments: Incest is wincest~
Translator’s Notes:
[1] disheveled, clothes in a mess, basically undressed (衣冠不整衣衫凌乱衣不蔽体) – sounds repetitive but in the original, the author used three different idioms that are like synonyms to each other to make it funnier.
[2] Jiao Ren (鲛人) – A mythical creature in Chinese mythology that’s basically like the mermaid/merman in Western mythology, but has a few differences, here’s an English website describing it: https://www.theworldofchinese.com/2015/08/the-chinese-mermaid/
[3] Mystical Cave (秘境洞府) – lit. translation. Can also be “Mystical Realm”, it is a common place in these Wuxia/Xianxia novels where it is ‘hidden’ and usually filled with dangers and traps, but has great/unknown treasures one can find.
[4] Inheritance Cave (传承洞府) – lit. translation. A simple explanation: these are caves that usually have treasures left behind by someone powerful that died, these caves are usually filled with traps as well and those who can overcome it “inherits” the treasures.
[5] Unexpected/Lucky Encounter/Adventure (奇遇) – lit. translation, can also be translated as “adventure”. A common term in this genre of novel, where it’s usually used to describe a lucky encounter/adventure that leads to the characters obtaining treasures. So I’ll be switching from “unexpected/lucky encounter” to “adventure” depending on what flows better in English.
[6] The Qian Kun Person’s Tomb (乾坤人墓) – lit translation, “Qian Kun” was the title that the dead person self-proclaimed as, but it also has many meanings so I will keep it as pinyin.
The common meaning is “heaven and earth” / “universe”, “yin and yang”, and “man and woman”. I’m not certain what it’s directed at, but I’m guessing that it’s mostly towards the “man and woman” considering what is supposed to happen in the cave explained in later chapters.
