Transmigrated into the World of “Demon Lord Wu Zun” Chapter 47

Chapter 47: Exposed

After that, none of the girls dared to come over again. Without the girl’s melodious chatter and laughter, Gu Bai’s surroundings seemed deserted and cold.

Qi Guan Rui acted as an attendant on one hand, and laughed breezily on the other. It didn’t even seem like he was doing the work of serving someone else at all.

From afar, girls would pass by from time to time and see the two. Their eyes would light up instantly, and they’d want to walk over.

But the next second, they would be stopped by another girl, and the following conversation would commence.

“What’s wrong, there’s some good stuff over there, why not go over?”

“That’s a pair of queer-bags.”

“……what a waste of two handsome faces.”

And then, and then there was no more “and then”.

Half an hour passed by just like that, and under the expectantly raised heads of the lustful guys, a few charming figures finally landed on the tall platform.

The girls had come on stage!

And so, the flower viewing convention… had officially begun.

These oiran[1] competition-like plots were well liked in novels, whether in Mary Sue[2] stories or harem texts. The difference was that the former always let themselves shine, particularly in performing their talents, and won the love of countless beautiful men. The latter involved a group of girls showcasing their beauty, and the protagonist got all their love at the end.

They’re completely different in their origins  ╮(╯▽╰)╭

Gu Bai was writing a harem novel, so the talent stuff was most definitely not the focus of his composition. Even if there was talent, it was just to serve as a foil for beauty.

For instance, a girl just started to dance, but she wasn’t wearing many clothes, her body was top of the range sexy. Another girl was singing, and while she was singing, she had to be winking and moving her waist seductively… that’s an enchantment. Yet another girl was playing the flute, and when she blew it, she had to be playfully teasing… cloyingly flirtatious to the point people’s hearts itched in desire.

Even if there was a pure-looking girl, she needed to have voluptuous XX, round XX, and a trembling XX. A slightly less attractive girl would definitely have skin paler than snow and smooth to the touch, not to mention, something along the lines of fiery red lips and blue enchantress hydrangeas. No matter what, the description had to be blazingly spicy so people would become uncontrollably excited when they read it. Of course, there was also the exception to the rule, the cold, indifferent girl who refused on the surface, but actually welcomed it on the down low. They were self-confident and prideful, a typical goddess character whose masochistic personality was fulfilled by men submissively kneeling to their desires. To put it bluntly, it was all to service womanly charms.

Up above, a lot of Baihuamen’s female disciples were brilliantly talented, their performances were sharp and incisive.

Most of the spectators below had a(¯﹃¯)appearance, with eyes that showed they would kill to jump on stage right that second.

Gu Bai’s face was paralyzed, he watched very seriously.

He recalled several years later that the scene of the flower viewing convention was depicted after he’d browsed countless sex films in order to achieve such a lewd portrayal. But watching it now… it actually wasn’t all that bad in comparison.

……to be honest, it was even hotter than what he wrote, this was great material!

Too bad he’d transmigrated.

Otherwise, he would’ve received a frenzied wave of subscribers!

Gu Bai was in a trance, pitying his inability to start a new plot, while Qi Guan Rui kept looking at Gu Bai.

He looked up, down, outside, in…… he couldn’t see inside.

Qi Guan Rui also glanced around. A lot of the horny guys had already exposed their ugly side, even the ones with stronger persistence had flushed faces and hurried breathing.

Only Zi Che Shu Bai…… except for also watching without blinking…… had no reaction.

Say, this lack of reaction……. what exactly was this reaction?

Qi Guan Rui frowned slightly.

Speaking of which, he and Zi Che Shu Bai had shared the same bed, same pillow for so long, and he’s indeed never seen a reaction.

Logically speaking, Zi Che Shu Bai’s body had already matured, he should have reactions where reactions should be.

But contrary to expectations, he just didn’t…… this couldn’t help but make others wonder if he had a secret illness.

And if he did have a secret illness……

Qi Guan Rui laughed all of a sudden.

Maybe it was better to have a secret illness, then Zi Che Shu Bai would have no desire for women, and he’d naturally have to accept him.

As long as he had enough means, everything would come naturally.

He always had a way to make Zi Che Shu Bai live with him merrily.

……actually, Gu Bai, who didn’t know he’d been deemed to have erectile dysfunction by someone else, was just helplessly frigid.

The root cause lay in the martial arts that he practiced.

The typical martial artist has always been masculine. After practicing martial arts, the body was filled with energy and essence, and they became even more vigorous in those matters.

But Gu Bai practiced ice characteristic techniques, and he also used attack methods with ice attributes.

Think about it, no matter how vivacious “it” was, dumping a whole bucket of ice-cold water down there……

Hiss~~~

Practicing that martial art was a process of being repeatedly doused with ice water. Even if a wolf came over late at night, the finale would still end up with it being withered away, okay.

It was better to just not have “it” from the start.

Being an otaku who only liked two-dimensional characters, Gu Bai showed no signs of pressure at all.

If there was nothing, then there was nothing, he wasn’t planning on approaching girls anyway.

Qi Guan Rui gazed gently at Gu Bai; his heart had already turned over lots of thoughts.

With greed in his gaze, he covertly raked his eyes all over Gu Bai’s body, and quickly retracted it before Gu Bai noticed.

Patience…… patience.

If Zi Che Shu Bai didn’t have “it”, then he wouldn’t be tainted by anyone else.

And he was still unsure if he could completely control Zi Che Shu Bai at the moment, he also didn’t have enough power to guard against Tian Du Cheng.

He truly didn’t want to see Zi Chu Shu Bai look at him with disgusted eyes, but…… if it really got to that point, even if was hated, he still wanted to have him in his hands.

Or, trapped in bed.

He mustn’t let him get away.

The two had vastly different thoughts on their minds, and their brain circuits had, once again, not aligned.

The girls on stage were exceedingly beautiful, and it looked as if they were about to set off a small round of……

Suddenly, dozens of figures leaped out from the nearby trees and flower bushes!

These figures moved extremely fast, each shadow was like a ghost, accompanied by fierce wind sounds.

Because they came out so fast, a lot of people were caught off guard. The princes and guys who’d come to “view flowers” were here for fun, so although they had bodyguards, they were pretty much entranced by beauty and reacted one or two seconds slower than normal.

Just those one or two degrees, posed a huge issue.

The figures flew past, taking down the bodyguards blocking the path in a couple seconds……… some even ducked right past the bodyguards, and devoured the pampered princes, one by one.

That’s right, they were devoured.

It was the ‘tearing out the flesh, holding the organs, ripping open the forehead, and chewing on the brains’ type of devouring.

This devouring turned the flower viewing convention into a battlefield, in an instant, the smell of blood permeated everywhere.

Broken limbs and the remnants of bodies were strewn across the floor and sounds of chewing were still present…… can it not be so scary!

Where would the Baihuamen girls have seen such a ruckus? They were performing happily, and then the audience suddenly turned into a horror film scene, they’d be mentally superb if they weren’t already scared to death.

But even so, they still bundled into a trembling clump, and then somebody screamed, and ran off the other way.

The corner of Gu Bai’s mouth twitched.

What fucking bad luck.

I’m not a nerd for death, why the fuck does shit always hit the fan wherever I go?!

At that moment, he finally remembered that the sadistic protagonist had indeed heard about the “tragic past” of this school when he came to the Baihuamen scene.

Yes, another tragic backstory.

It was said that when Baihuamen was once at their peak, they ran into a catastrophe at a flower viewing convention that nearly wiped out their entire school. And many of the participants who had passed away had powerful backgrounds, causing severe turmoil in many cities.

And this incident was caused by the Mo Ren!

It was also this incident that would kick off the prelude to large-scale conflicts between the Mo Ren and the martial practitioners from then on.

Undoubtedly, Gu Bai unluckily encountered this incident.

And watched a horror film live.

Gu Bai looked silently towards Qi Guan Rui.

Qi Guan Rui returned a gentle smile.

Gu Bai sighed, reached out to pull Qi Guan Rui, and hid him behind his back.

Sorry girls, while I want to save you guys too, it’s clear that I only have the means to take care of Gu Xiao Shan right now.

No wonder it was a tragedy, the Mo Ren here are all mid ranked Wu Jun and above, it’d be bizarre if it weren’t fucking tragic!

The Mo Ren’s eyes were crimson red, it was apparent they hadn’t eaten flesh in many days. Aside from just wreaking havoc, I’m afraid they also came here with the intention of instilling frightened shock.

They ate quickly, finishing off the princes and bodyguards within moments. Some of the Mo Ren simply ran after the girls that hadn’t gotten far yet.

……of course, some girls did escape, otherwise, who would’ve spread the word of the Mo Ren’s terrors?

But the girls that were slow, they could only be captured and eaten alive.

The place was a complete mess, only Gu Bai protecting Qi Guan Rui allowed them to be spick and span.

Gu Bai helplessly punched through a Mo Ren’s stomach, tossed him to the side, and turned to start on yet another Mo Ren.

There was nothing he could do. He was now surrounded by seven to eight Mo Ren. Even if he were overwhelmed with strength, he still wouldn’t be able to solve the problem quickly.

What’s more, he had to protect Gu Xiao Shan. Unknowingly, he fell into a heavy encirclement.

Being securely protected by Gu Bai, Qi Guan Rui’s state of mind was complicated.

Zi Che Shu Bai really was something, even when their lives were in danger, he didn’t abandon him……

But precisely so, it made him want to have him all for himself…… no matter what.

No one else could look at him, touch him, or even think of having him.

Gu Bai concentrated on his attacks, a thin layer of ice had gathered around the palms of his hands, there was also a layer of frost on his hair and eyebrows.

This was the sign that his force has been coruscating to an extreme, he was gradually using all his power, as he wanted to create a path to get away.

His movements were still so elegant, so crisp and beautiful, yet also so high above the masses…… perfectly flawless. He didn’t seem like he was desperately fighting others, but like he was strolling through flowers. He appeared to be calm and leisurely, without a hint of uncertainty.

But in Gu Bai’s heart, he was seriously at a loss, okay!

Who knew he’d run into such a major event just by coming out to watch a fucking flower convention? Now that he was surrounded…… how did he escape? Ahhhh!

It would’ve been fine if it were just him, but there was still a weakling behind him waiting to be protected!

If it were someone else, he’d have left them without feeling much burden, but Gu Xiao Shan was his only family/brother/friend/housemaid in this world, he couldn’t leave him behind! Am I going to die here today…… hey, let me find a way out, ahh!

And behind him, Qi Guan Rui also finally made up his mind.

If Zi Che Shu Bai was willing to do this for him…… then maybe, some things will be okay to tell Zi Che Shu Bai.

He couldn’t let himself and Zi Che Shu Bai die here, there were still a lot of things he wanted to do with Zi Che Shu Bai.

Thinking of this, Qi Guan Rui swung his body, and immediately came to Gu Bai’s side.

Gu Bai was stunned, that was fast!

Qi Guan Rui said softly: “Gege, I have a way.”

Gu Bai overthrew a Mo Ren, and turned his head: “What way?”

Qi Guan Rui smiled slightly, opened his palms, and released more than a dozen dark shadows.

The shadows were thin, like venomous snakes, shooting straight out.

Gu Bai looked at the thing, then looked at Qi Guan Rui, then looked at the thing, and back at Qi Guan Rui.

Wasn’t!  That!  The!  Snake!  Voodoo!

I! Wouldn’t! Forget! Even! If! I! Died!

There was a “buzz” sound in his brain.

The crazy protagonist equals Gu Xiao Shan the crazy protagonist equals Gu Xiao Shan the crazy protagonist equals Gu Xiao Shan!

What the fuck?!

Gu Bai felt as if he had just been smacked with a screen of blood by the malicious universe!

The root cause, lies in the martial arts that he practices.”
I don’t know if it was deliberate on the author’s part, but root can also be used instead of the word dick.

Xiao’s Comments: Ahahaha…run!

[1] The term “oiran” refers to a category of high ranking courtesans in Japanese history. They were considered to be of higher rank than common prostitutes, and were distinguished by their skills in the traditional arts of singing, dance, and music.

[2] A Mary Sue girl refers to an unrealistically perfect female protagonist (good looks, good background, skilled in everything, etc.) lacking in flaws, who makes many other characters fall in love with her. This is directly opposite to a harem male, who is fought over by many girls and drowned in their affection.

Chapter 46: The Flower Viewing Convention

Qi Guan Rui froze for a second.

However sharp or keen he might be, he still couldn’t guess what Gu Bai was thinking in that moment.

“A tragic…… past?”

Gu Bai knew immediately he’d let his mouth slip and coughed lightly, saying: “I recognize that person.” His finger pointed towards the Wu Shang girl.

Qi Guan Rui looked over, squinting his eyes.

Of course, he also recognized this person. It was clearly the one Zi Che Shu Bai had noticed in the restaurant a couple days ago, why was Zi Che Shu Bai still paying attention to them right now?

Then he said softly: “It does seem like we had the fate to meet them once before.” He paused, “What’s wrong, Gege?”

Gu Bai said: “That’s a girl.”

Qi Guan Rui already knew and said: “Right.”

Gu Bai then said: “The one she has her arms around is also a girl.”

Qi Guan Rui raised his eyebrows: “A girl and…… a girl.”

Gu Bai nodded: “I saw a fellow traveler with that girl dressed in men’s clothing before, they seemed to be her elder. The elder’s face was dark and heavy… if that girl wanted to be together with the girl she liked, that elder probably wouldn’t just stand by and watch.”

When he wrote about the Wu Shang girl, he had indeed written it in one sitting. But in that sitting, he also wrote how Wu Shang would lose her first love due to the trouble her Master caused, causing her heart to crumble and dissipate like dead ash. But her Master also had the kindness of nurturing her, so later on, when she avenged her Master, she put her life on the line in hopes of finally breaking free of living in such torment if she were to die. It was only until she fell in love with the twisted protagonist, that her heart would come back to life again.

Actually, aside from being pretty efficient when it came to killing people, Wu Shang really was a morally upright girl that paid a debt of gratitude where due and sought revenge when necessary. It was just that she would take a liking to that freak afterward, and then her views would become just as equally crooked.

Qi Guan Rui laughed: “So that’s what it is. But each person has their own destiny, it has nothing to do with us.”

Gu Bai sighed, although he couldn’t bear to see it happen, there really wasn’t anything he could do.

Firstly, even if the Wan Yue girl was pitiful, if she didn’t die, Wu Shang wouldn’t lose hope. And if Wu Shang didn’t lose hope, then this part of the plot would need to go through a huge change. If the twisted protagonist lost this loyal pawn of a girl, then the harem’s situation would also change… since this wasn’t a normal girl after all, but one of the four fairies. She would go on to form alliances with other girls in the harem, splitting the group up left and right… lord knows why such a manly author like him wrote an imperial harem struggle.

Secondly, he’d been in this universe for quite some time. He started out with some benevolence, but it had all pretty much rubbed off by now. Even if he did have a surge in kindness again, could he really tell Wu Shang, “Your Master wants to kill off the girl you adore?” If he said that he’d probably come off as crazy. And if he didn’t say anything……he and Gu Xiao Shan came out to play, he wouldn’t know when Wu Shang’s Master would go off, was he expected to follow her every day?

And so, a sigh could only be a sigh, there was really nothing he could do.

Qi Guan Rui watched Gu Bai nod, thoughtfully pondering.

Since a girl and a girl could be together, then a man and another man…… should, presumably, be okay too.

Although he’d never heard of such a thing before, Zi Che Shu Bai didn’t seem to be fazed.

Then did Zi Che Shu Bai actually……. not hate it?

Qi Guan Rui’s gaze darkened.

Zi Che Shu Bai was keen on others’ businesses, but when it came to his desires, he seemed to be completely oblivious.

It just wasn’t known if he really didn’t know or had already detected it early on…… no, if he really was aware of it, then he wouldn’t behave like this.

Even if he couldn’t see Zi Che Shu Bai’s thoughts clearly, his change in feelings towards Zi Che Shu Bai has always been crystal clear.

Because of all kinds of worries, Gu Bai couldn’t do anything, so all he could was pretend to have not seen the ill-fated ducks.

…Forget it, my own life isn’t even secured yet, no use thinking about others.

He had way too many girls in this novel that were forced to live a hard life, if he looked after every single one he ran into…… then what use was the sadistic protagonist?

Stealing the show didn’t work like that!

So, the two tossed thoughts of the two girls to the back of their minds. In the split-second Qi Guan Rui turned around, a shadow quietly crept out, and only later did he take Gu Bai to the inn with a face full of gentle attentiveness.

This inn was carefully chosen, and even had to be booked many days in advance, or else it would have been awfully overcrowded.

Gu Bai saw the peacefully beautiful atmosphere and gave Qi Guan Rui a thumbs up.

Very well, this was meticulously prepared… but this kid was way too confident, was he so certain he would come out and play with him?

This gave Gu Bai the sudden, eerie realization, that his status as an older brother was precarious……

Qi Guan Rui took his hand and pulled him into the inn.

Gu Bai silently contorted his face.

Forget it, it doesn’t matter.

The two stayed in the eighth room of the Tianzifang[1]. This was still considered early… if they had gone up any later, they wouldn’t have been able to stay here, as they only had ten rooms.

After finding a place for their stuff, the two brothers settled down in Hua Zhao city.

Qi Guan Rui really made an effort. Over the next two days, he would take Gu Bai everywhere, practically even more familiar with the place than the locals.

After having visited almost all the surrounding areas, the Hua Chao festival arrived.

The sight of people packed foot to foot and shoulder to shoulder…… was also here.

Gu Bai stood apart from the crowd, slightly perplexed.

Ah, I don’t want to be pressed against other people, if I just walk in like this, won’t I just work up a full body of stinking sweat?!

He turned to look at Qi Guan Rui.

Gu Xiao Shan, how about we go back……. hm?

Qi Guan Rui smiled slightly: “Gege, go with me?”

Gu Bai: “…….okay.”

Damn it! Raising a child is so hard!

After putting on a black gauze outer layer, Gu Bai went out with an elegant air of nobility.

Qi Guan Rui led the way with laughter, while Gu Bai’s aloof temperament intimidated some civilians, causing them to make way for him, one after another.

That finally made it tolerable for Gu Bai.

Walking all the way, the two came to the front of a garden.

While the garden was said to be a garden, there actually wasn’t an enclosure surrounding it, more like an open square instead. There weren’t many trees planted there either, but the flowers bloomed, one after another, as colorful and beautiful as could be. All sorts of exotic flowers vied for beauty and spread their fragrance lazily, making the garden look like a wonderland.

Gu Bai glanced over at it and found it quite pretty.

But apart from peonies, chrysanthemums, and orchids; he didn’t recognize a single one of the other flowers, so obviously, he couldn’t tell whether they were good or bad either.

At the time, he’d written about the Hua Chao festival, but he hadn’t really described the actual, real flowers. The focus was placed on the “flower” instead, so now, when he looked at the flowers it was merely observational. If you really had to have him name one, two, or three… please, just spare him.

On the other hand, Qi Guan Rui was simultaneously pointing at the flowers and explaining them to Gu Bai… his knowledge was profound.

Gu Bai was expressionless, nodding at his explanation. It was simply too elusive to understand.

It could also be called ‘Acting like a pretentious dickhead to the highest extent’, no one could tell that he didn’t understand!

After the two of them had strolled around, they noticed the surrounding people were all flowing toward a specific place.

Qi Guan Rui suddenly understood, “Gege, the flower viewing convention has started.”

Gu Bai nodded, and followed him there.

Not long after, they saw a plaza bundled in fresh flowers, and on the plaza was a tall platform also filled with blossoms. There was colored silk in the sky, and far in the distance was a small building… exquisitely elegant and gorgeously beautiful.

Amidst the crowd of flowers, there seemed to be plenty of curvaceous shadows and moving waists, gracefully charming.

Gu Bai glanced at the alluring shadows, then at Qi Guan Rui, and quietly exclaimed.

Xiao Shan is indeed at the age to start pursuing young women, he wants to fall in love! He’s already flirted with girls, and now that he’s drifting towards areas with even more girls, should he prepare more dowry so he can marry lots of wives and concubines in the future?

Qi Guan Rui was taken aback by the complex notions behind his eyes.

This gaze…… why does it feel so weird?

He’d brought Zi Che Shu Bai here because he had his own intentions. Since he wanted him, he needed to know if Zi Che Shu Bai was interested in women.

……and also help him decide what to do next.

The two’s thought processes didn’t align, but the fact that they were both observing the other’s attitudes was very real.

So, after the flower viewing convention began, their “flower viewing” was also exceptionally serious.

Even in the real world, a female’s body strength was always less than that of a male’s, and they most definitely couldn’t compete in martial arts ability either. What’s more, in harem novels, written especially for men, the status of women was even more insignificant. Although the sadistic protagonist had a couple brutal, capable girls by his side, the general environment still revolved around males being superior to females. The girls that weren’t gifted in martial arts often had a hard life, may or may not have to rely on a man. Take those ferocious girls, didn’t they rely on the twisted protagonist as well? The harem didn’t necessarily have to be composed of true love; those girls weren’t stupid.

To put it plainly, the flower viewing convention was a performative chance for the men to flirt with the women, and for the women to also openly flirt with the men.

As for the host, that would be the *Baihuamen[2].

As the name suggested, all of them belonged to the school of girls[3].

When Gu Bai and Qi Guan Rui arrived, their clothes were both considerably fashionable. With one of them radiating an imposing aura, and the other looking gracefully chivalrous, their appearance was a lot stronger than the crowd of rough faces and crooked heads. The girls loved the strong, but they also liked the handsome too, so some of the schools’ girls were exceptionally considerate and caring when serving them.

One girl was just about to deliver a cup of tea directly into Gu Bai’s hands, her whole body was leaning towards him…… but was stopped by Qi Guan Rui, who swiftly took the teacup.

The girl’s body stiffened, and just as she timidly raised her head, she was met with the eyes of Qi Guan Rui… filled with malice. Her face immediately paled in fright.

“I, I……”

Gu Bai was puzzled, and so turned around, only to see Qi Guan Rui’s frown. Now he understood.

The girl was timid, and seeing Gu Xiao Shan’s troubled expression, was probably simply scared of being reprimanded.

He then said coldly, “You don’t need to tend to here, just send some tea and pastries… that’ll be enough.”

The girl left hurriedly, her little heart nearly about to jump out, going “thump thump” in fear.

She’d never seen such a chilling look her whole life, hey… was he trying to eat someone or kill them?!

Thankfully, she dealt with guys year-round, so her mental tolerance was pretty tough or else she’d have been paralyzed right then and there.

After Qi Guan Rui scared off the girl, he was satisfied.

He placed the teacup in Gu Bai’s hand: “Gege, drink this first to warm your palate. They have pretty good pastries here, they should suit Gege’s taste.”

Although Gu Bai hadn’t seen Qi Guan Rui’s vicious look just now, he had caught on to Qi Guan Rui’s behavior.

……it always felt like he was pushing girls away.

This actually wasn’t the first time, he’d always felt that the kid, Gu Xiao Shan, had extremely possessive tendencies. It might be fine for him to cling onto him now since he wasn’t married yet, but with Gu Xiao Shan’s personality, he would probably marry three to five wives in the future… what would he do then?

But on the other hand, Gu Bai was also triumphantly pleased.

Other than this problem, his Gu Xiao Shan was absolutely perfect, only he could rise such a child~

Translator’s Notes:

[1] *Tianzifang directly translates to “sky word house”, and is simply the name of the inn they’re staying in. In the olden times, an inn with only one room would be called the Tianzifang. But if there were multiple rooms, it would be labeled by numbers such as: Tianzifang number one, Tianzifang number two, Tianzifang number three, etc.

[2] Baihuamen directly translates to “hundred flower door”. But if you dissect the word, ‘baihua-’ is a connotation for ‘prosperous’ while ‘-men’ was what people called the different schools of martial arts in ancient times, so the name of the hosting group can also be called the “prosperous school”.

[3] In ancient times, many people grew up in different martial arts sectors, with their respective “school” names.

Chapter 45: Let’s go on a vacation!

He only heard a “shua” sound and saw a flash of blinding white light.

In that instant, a long, thin sword pressed against the rich, good-for-nothing’s neck.

The lengthy sword was black, only as wide as a pinky, but with a viper-like tone as if about to hiss  “■■“

The rich, good-for-nothing’s face went white with fear.

It was like aiming to kick but hitting a metal plate instead[1]!

He was only flirting with a girl, why was his life suddenly in jeopardy!

Gu Bai wordlessly covered his face.

He had no words to describe how he was feeling just then.

So, this was the one… how unfortunate was this young master?

It was only then that Gu Bai finally got a clear view and saw, sitting in the corner, a “young lad” in a snug outfit. Perhaps because of the clean and pretty face, the good-for-nothing thought the lad was a cross-dressing girl, so he tried hitting on her.

Of course, the young master, who had seen many beauties, was not wrong. That “young lad” was, in fact, not a lad at all, but in reality, a girl.

But this girl, she believed she was a guy.

As expected, the girl pressed her sword against the good-for-nothing’s neck, and in a husky voice said, “Little beauty? Dross. Go die!”

With that, she swung her thin sword downward with great force… to chop off that sinner’s root!

Falling backward, the good-for-nothing released an “ahhhh” scream. He quickly reached down to cover his crotch, dripping cold sweat and looking as if he was about to piss himself.

At that, the corner of the girl’s mouth raised into a vicious smirk, “Idiot. Scram!”

The good-for-nothing then flailed and crawled away.

Gu Bai gave that girl kudos. Establishing her dominance, dude!

And so, it came, another crucial character from the MC’s harem, the legendary Xuhuáng fairy, Wu Shang.

Just looking at her as is, the girl had wrapped herself almost suffocatingly, like an assassin, but no matter how flat she may be, there were at least some curves. Excluding herself, anyone, with a little observation, could tell she was a girl.

Wu Shang, from her name to her personality, to how she behaved, was no different from a guy at all. From a young age, she had been raised by her unlawful shifu to become a tool for revenge and has self-gender identification impediment. Once she grew up, she was ready to take revenge for her shifu. However, her shifu suddenly died, causing her to lose sight of her life goal.

Afterward, Wu Shang used clues her shifu had uttered in his sleep-talking and found some of her shifu’s enemies to assassinate. But failed the assassination, was gravely wounded, and was coincidentally rescued by the MC. Then she followed the MC, becoming one of the most loyal girls by the MC’s side.

Of course, she always thought she liked girls, but after spending a long time with the MC, she unknowingly fell in love with the MC, a dude. She panicked, she hesitated, she thought something was wrong with her brain… until she was bedded by the MC, after that, the problem was no longer a problem.

Gu Bai threw his morals out the window when he wrote this arc.

According to his, and his best friend’s, many years of book-reading and field studies, inside Shi Dian’s stallion novels, all otakus love to see the male leads conquer lesbians. Wu Shang was created to satisfy those otaku’s perverted fantasies. A lesbian would never fall for a man is as factual as a gay man can never be turned into a hetero. Especially so for a girl as strong as she was. She would never accept being the one pinned down!

Without a doubt, Gu Bai’s alternative take on this had led to many excited howls from the otakus, a boost in his popularity, and a boost in his confidence…

Gu Bai looked at that girl and sighed.

This girl probably hadn’t left her mountain yet, and her shifu shouldn’t have died yet.

At this moment, Qi Guan Rui waved his hand in front of him, “Gege, the food is here.”

Gu Bai turned his head, and from the corner of his eye caught a glimpse of a hawk-like, older man stepping through the door. The girl, following the old man, slammed money on the table and left.

He didn’t think much of it and began eating.

For not seeing each other for a couple days, his Xiao Shan still gave such top tier service…

Those two brothers hadn’t met in two months, so after returning, they caught up on each other’s progress. Qi Guan Rui had an approximation of Gu Bai’s Wu Li level; as for Gu Bai, he was obviously understanding the false side.

For the rest of the time, Gu Bai still attended lectures when obliged to attend lectures, practiced martial arts when needed to practice martial arts, and continued to raise his fundamentals.

Qi Guan Rui didn’t raise any trouble either, except drugging Gu Bai when he was tired to quench his thirst a bit, he didn’t dare do more advanced stuff.

And like that, another three months passed.

The school break began.

The break at Qing Tian Academy was fifteen days long. During that period, one could either stay at the dorms or choose to leave school, though staying would cost an additional fee.

Gu Bai gave this some thought, he thought he would pay the money, it was better that they stayed in the academy and not run around.

However, Qi Guan Rui walked over, holding Gu Bai’s shoulders affectionately, he asked “Gege, shall we go out and have some fun?”

Gu Bai paused for a second.

Qi Guan Rui inched closer, and breathed next to his ear, “just…the two of us.”

Gu Bai’s ears turned red.

N- naughty brat, you are way too close to my ear, it’s itchy!

Qi Guan Rui lifted the corner of his mouth, “It’s a man’s ambition to conquer the world. Once we limit ourselves to one place… even if our strength can keep up… our hearts can’t accommodate it. By that time, it would be harder to break through.” He looked at Gu Bai, his smile turning gentler. “Besides, I also want to roam outside. Gege, come travel with me, please?

Gu Bai’s face was expressionless, but in his heart, he’d already compromised.

It was true. Boys of Gu Xiao Shan’s age in the modern era would be at their most active. Trapping him in one place to stay with an old man like himself, who had lived two lives, was too stifling for him… then, let’s go have fun!

Deadpanned, Gu Bai nodded.

Qi Guan Rui’s gaze also softened, “Gege… you are the best.”

Gu Bai replied, “Yeah.”

If you know this you brat, better treat me well, with filial piety!

What to do with this sudden feeling that he’s raising a son?

So, the brothers hit the road, leaving the four maids to see them off, waving goodbye with a small handkerchief and teary eyes from afar.

The route was completely decided by Qi Guan Rui, and Gu Bai listened to his planning, even buying a small carriage. And so, they swayed and rocked their way out of Hao Yang city.

In the front, the coachman hurried the carriage along the road. Qi Guan Rui crossed his knees and sat near the outside, watching Gu Bai lean crookedly on the animal hide and smiled slyly, “Gege, sorry for the inconvenience this time.”

Gu Bai rubbed his temples, “Traveling with you, I can relax and chill.”

Though to say this body has been too pampered and is used to seeking ease, so it covets it. Needing to keep up a facade in front of others was tiring, perhaps finally going out wasn’t a bad idea.

Qi Guan Rui took Gu Bai’s words as enjoying the time spent alone with him, his smile grew more genuine by 20 percent. “Even by myself, I can still serve Gege comfortably.”

Gu Bai nodded. He absolutely believed Gu Xiao Shan could do as he said. The current Gu Xiao Shan was so well rounded, now if this continued, the flawless maids he’d groomed were gonna collectively become unemployed.

Qi Guan Rui, seeing how assured Gu Bai was, and that his actions were more at ease than any other time, boosted his mood even more.

Gu Bai didn’t ask where Qi Guan Rui was taking him. For a child he raised to age… completely ignoring the thirteen years lost in between… he was still very tolerant, understanding, and trustworthy. This feeling of spoiling someone else, was actually not bad at all.

Qi Guan Rui watched Gu Bai lean for a while, then extended his hands to hold him to his side and kneaded his shoulders.

Gu Bai leaned lazily against him; his image collapsed completely.

The more Qi Guan Rui saw, the more delighted he felt.

After traveling for about a day, they approached a nearby city. Qi Guan Rui led Gu Bai to switch carriages, still bedded comfortably, then traveled another day, then changed again.

After repeating this process for about three or four more days, they finally stopped at a city.

Gu Bai got down from the carriage and saw, inscribed on the city gates with three big characters, “Hua Zhao city”.

Qi Guan Rui beamed. “I heard that in two days there will be a Hua Chao festival[2] here. The city will be flushed with hundreds of blossoming flowers and holding a centi-flower convention, with even more sights outside the city. So, I wanted to bring Gege here to appreciate it. Gege, do you like it?

Gu Bai gazed wordlessly at the sky.

Like it or not… if he was a normal dude, definitely.

Hundreds of blossoming flowers, those who bloomed weren’t only flowers, but also the “flowers”!

Once upon a time, that perverted MC accumulated every beautiful girl at the flower festival, successfully adding more tiles to his harem. However, it would still be a long time until that arc happened. Therefore, the people they would meet at this flower festival now probably weren’t the same batch as the original, so it shouldn’t matter… much.

So, Gu Bai nodded, “I like it.”

On this rare occasion, when Gu Xiao Shan had expended so much effort, there was no way he would hurt the child’s feelings.

Qi Guan Rui’s expression grew gentler. Holding Gu Bai’s hand, he lightly whispered, “Then follow me, Gege.” And just like that, Gu Bai was led away by him.

Upon entering the city, Gu Bai saw many people, ordinary guys and girls holding hands, and the two of them holding hands wasn’t out of the blue at all… my ass! Bruh, all the couples holding hands in the whole street are male and female couples. What business did they, two males, have holding their freaking hands together!

Gu Bai wordlessly stared at Qi Guan Rui.

Qi Guan Rui smiled benevolently, “Gege, the street is crowded.”

Gu Bai’s face twisted.

Okay, holding hands it is, as long as you, brat, don’t find this losing face then hold it as long as you want!

He knew Gu Xiao Shan was overly attached to him and had been abused before, so Xiao Shan was always finding something to remind him of his presence. Anyway, it wouldn’t be the first time going along with him, and he also knew this child was a bit cunning. But anyhow, this child was definitely the person he cared the most about in this world and letting him find reassurance did nothing bad.

And so, his bottom line was reestablished, again.

Gu Bai abandoned all resistance and allowed himself to be towed and dragged, scanning his surroundings as he did so.

With a quick scan, he saw some interesting things.

On the streets, like everyone else holding hands, one pair looked particularly familiar… more accurately, it was the “guy” who was pulling the other that looked familiar.

Lanky build, tall figure, clothed in black, fair features, dark aura… who else could it be other than that cool, dominating Wu Shang girl who was molested by that evil, good for nothing, young master a couple days ago! The one she was currently tugging was also a girl, whose look was delicate and elegant, like a daughter of an eminent family.

Definitely Wu Shan’s first love!

The one who sparked Wu Shan into love but died tragically.

Could they possibly be starting the “Wu Shan’s fucked up past” side plot?

The flashback that was casually remarked on in the original text…

Qi Guan Rui tightened his grip, and asked, using a soft voice, “Gege, what are you looking at?”

Gu Bai replied, “I’m looking at a tragic past.”

Chapter 44: The Unbearable Thing

Lady, lady, lady!

Why was Zi Ju Shu Bai always concerned with girls?!

Qi Guan Rui’s mood instantly became horrible.

If he hadn’t suppressed it with great might, then his face would’ve probably become twisted as well.

It has already happened many times, Zi Ju Shu Bai seemed to have a natural curiosity for these women, every single time… every single time, the first thing he asked about was always them.

They haven’t seen each other for so many days, he had missed Zi Ju Shu Bai so much, yet, for Zi Ju Shu Bai, he never even thought of him!

It really was… unbearable =皿=

Gu Bai was currently in a hug with Qi Guan Rui, to be honest, even though it was a bit embarrassing, he’d also missed his Gu Xiao Shan a bit, so he just allowed the other to hug and rub him however he wished. But it really was a bit shameful in public with so many people, so he decided to change the topic.

Yet for some unknown reason, after he changed the topic, he suddenly shivered.

After some thought, Gu Bai reached his hands out to push Qi Guan Rui away.

Hugging was fine, but hugging for too long might seem too gay, so let’s calm down a bit still, hun.

Then he saw his Xiao Shan’s face darkening.

… Just as Qi Guan Rui could see Gu Bai’s wavering emotion under his stoic face, even though Gu Bai was slower than Qi Guan Rui, he could still see a little at times.

Like now, didn’t he immediately realize the forcefulness under that smile?

And so, Gu Bai furrowed his brows.

Did someone bully Xiao Shan?

Instantly, Gu Bai started imagining.

That was right, he ran to the Manual Tower by himself to be in secluded cultivation, so Gu Xiao Shan, as his personal guard who watched his yard, would have no support. Usually, when he went out to do things for him, many rich good-for-nothings/high-status young masters could be seen every second, if he was somehow targeted by one of them, wouldn’t they make him suffer greatly?

His heart squeezed, when Gu Bai looked at Qi Guan Rui, there was a bit of pity.

What a child with a harsh life, your big bro will treat you well.

For Qi Guan Rui forgetting himself was also only something that passed in a blink of an eye, he very quickly spoke in grievance, “Gege, why do you ask about someone else right after returning…”

…His skill at acting soft and cute was definitely not malfunctioning.

Those pitiful looking eyes hit Gu Bai right on target, then he finally realized.

Fuck! So, this boy was jealous!

Good thing it wasn’t bullying… after having those thoughts first, Gu Bai was suddenly at loss as to cry or laugh.

He knew that this boy needed love, after all, he thought of him as family, well, the possessiveness of a little kid can be understood.

Though of course, the subtle joy in his heart wasn’t excluded either.

He didn’t just “forget his bro for women”, as expected, Gu Xiao Shan still doesn’t understand love, in the end, he was still the most important as the elder brother, hahahaha!

Clearing his throat, Gu Bai decided to comfort him, “I’ve never seen her before, yet she knows you, naturally, I shall ask about the unapparent details to finally be reassured.”

Qi Guan Rui’s eyes immediately lit up in a woosh.

If this was a comic, the great, twisted shadow behind him would definitely be seen fading away like flowing water, even though this wasn’t a comic, it also made the surrounding temperature slowly rise back up. Now, it wasn’t as questionably spine-shivering as earlier.

Seeing Qi Guan Rui’s smile, Gu Bai’s mood became very good as well.

Then, Leng Xianyun, who’d been neglected on the side for a long while also spoke up, “City Governor of Tian Du Cheng, I’ve heard much about you.”

Qi Guan Rui’s face darkened.

The atmosphere was just good, he was just about to keep trying to dig out a few more good words from Zi Ju Shu Bai’s mouth, and it was instantly ruined!

If he’d known earlier that Zi Ju Shu Bai was coming out of secluded cultivation today, he would’ve never gone shopping with this woman!

Gu Bai had no expression, “Who are you?”

The chick Leng Xianyu’s breathing stagnated, she was still a great beauty, no matter how reserved she was, she knew that her own name had spread far. Now that she met a person who didn’t know it, she immediately felt very odd. But the chick’s mind was sturdy, she instantly reacted, “Leng Xianyun.”

Gu Bai nodded, “Zi Ju Shu Bai.”

The two ice mountains faced each other with no words exchanged for a period.

Cold wind passed between the two, rolling up a piece of withered leaf on the ground, and it also spun once before flowing away lonesomely.

Then, as if they’d reached some kind of agreement, after Gu Bai and The Chick Leng Xianyun eyes had met for a period, The Chick Leng Xianyun nodded at Qi Guan Rui as well, and left.

Seeing such a tacit understanding, Qi Guan Rui softly whispered in Gu Bai’s ear, “Gege, what did you say to her?”

Gu Bai glanced at him with quite a weird look.

Boi, did you not realize that your bro, I, actually didn’t say anything?!

If you really interrogate me on what I said to that lady, your bro, I, don’t know either! Ice mountain chicks are always hard to see through, she looked at your bro, I, not saying anything, so to keep a gentlemanly figure, your bro, I, also merely looked at her, who knows what she was thinking!

As can be easily seen, there was eye contact, but there was really no tacit understanding.

At least there was none on Gu Bai’s side.

Qi Guan Rui really quickly realized this, so he didn’t care for it again.

He grabbed Gu Bai’s hand and smiled, “Gege, let’s go eat together.”

Gu Bai nodded happily.

It was really harsh to starve for two months with only some stale stocks, right now was just the right time to fill his stomach up.

So, the two held hands as they walked straight to Gu Bai’s small restaurant.

Oh! What a male dog couple[1]!

Once the surrounding crowd saw there was no show to watch anymore, even though still unsatisfied, they also went their own ways after calling it to be over.

The small restaurant was certainly a small restaurant, the door was very big, but the winning part was that there were many seats inside, prices weren’t expensive, and it was also clean and tidy.

As time went by, the death warrior also gradually started to hire some chefs, servers and such workers to help out, while they were responsible for looking after the store and training employees. Their main mission, nevertheless, was to listen to all types of gossip in the restaurant, and find important information from it.

It was clear that even when Qi Guan Rui was busy with his own business, he didn’t neglect to patrol this place, the death warriors mixed pretty well with him as they all had a good impression towards him.

But right after they greeted Qi Guan Rui, who came in first, they saw Gu Bai behind him…

In an instant, sincere tears oozed in their eyes.

The city governor’s here, bark!

Gu Bai somehow felt a bit of brightness.

Qi Guan Rui smiled slightly, he pulled him over, “Gege, let me find a quiet place for you to sit.”

Death warriors A, B, C, D came to the place the two were seated at a speed that seemed like they’d flown, and they uniformly stood in a row.

“Greetings, city governor!”

Gu Bai stilled a bit, “You guys did well.”

Fuck, what the heck’s up with this type of “Greetings leader, let us pay respect to leader. Greetings comrades, comrades, you guys have worked hard,” vision?!

Qi Guan Rui poured a cup of tea for Gu Bai, “Gege, relax your throat first, I will order for Gege.”

Gu Bai’s attention was brought back to Qi Guan Rui, “Okay.”

To be stared at by the loyal dogs’ fierce eyes non-stop also made your bro, I, very pressured, many thanks Gu Xiao Shan for rescuing me, your bro!

Qi Guan Rui smiled towards the four loyal dogs, “Since the city governor has finally come, how about you guys show your skills, it will also relieve the city governor.”

The light within the loyal dogs’ eyes became even brighter, they all held one fist in a palm, “Yes!”

That was right! We need to let the city governor see our capability!

Then with a “shoo” sound, they all went into the kitchen.

After chasing away the light bulbs, Qi Guan Rui watched Gu Bai drink tea with a smile, he had an extremely gentle look.

Gu Bai took a sip and expressed that it was pretty good.

…Actually, he didn’t know how to identify good tea at all, he only knew how to act cool.

The two just sat quietly as they waited for the food, since it wasn’t meal time yet, people hadn’t filled the small restaurant yet. There were about forty to fifty tables, only a little over ten tables were full, there was quite a bit of space separating each, so it didn’t seem very crowded either.

It certainly was quite pleasant.

Gu Bai and Qi Guan Rui were just enjoying this peaceful atmosphere, and suddenly, a group of people walked in through the door.

The leading one was eight chi[2] tall, he had a handsome face, magnificent clothes, he was obviously a tall, rich, and handsome man! But the look in his eyes was just a bit greasy and frivolous, both his left and right arm held a beautiful girl with revealing clothes, he seemed very much like an unrestrained playboy who was in such great joy!

Oh, another rich good-for-nothing.

Hao Yang City was certainly a famous city where martial arts were popular, plus they had the Qing Tian Academy’s name hanging there as well, but since it was an extremely prosperous big city, there were definitely many families with stocked wealth or authority here.

And when it was a family, not every member would be successful in it. Characters like rich good-for-nothings, two hundred and fifties[3], evil young masters and such also appeared often. As long as these people didn’t cause a great ruckus that couldn’t be tolerated, then they most likely can continue to tyrannically abuse their power.

According to usual logic, a rich good-for-nothing like that wouldn’t come to a small restaurant, their goal would be a luxurious restaurant.

But everything had an exception, the novels on the Shi Dian website also didn’t need logic. So, the tall, rich, and handsome dudes would always change up their taste by spending money on a small restaurant/street food/any place that normal people go to, and would always tease some nice family’s women/girls/soft chicks as well. If they happened to be there for a situation of one selling themselves for their father’s funeral, then they would overtake the spot of ferocious, pugnacious-looking bullies from the ancient times even more. They just had to act out the cruel and evil canon fodder number 1’s role dedicatedly.

Gu Bai remembered how he’d also -distastefully- fixed up such a scene. The psycho protagonist was eating at a small restaurant when he happened to see a chick being forcefully taken away by an evil young master. Since he thought the chick’s crying face looked pretty good (standardized), he decided to get rid of the evil young master along the way as he made the chick a member of his harem.

Of course, that chick actually had a background too. She had a treasure map passed down from her ancestors on her, and only her blood could lead the treasure map to point out the treasure’s direction. After rolling in the sheets with the psycho protagonist, she devoted her heart to the protagonist fully and acquired all the treasure map’s wealth for the protagonist. Sadly, the chick herself wasn’t strong, her appearance also wasn’t the ‘beautiful out of this world’ type, so after the hot moment, she also drowned in the vast harem sea.

This rich good-for-nothing embracing someone on both his left and right sparked Gu Bai to think back to the novel’s scenes, then also suddenly made him slightly worried.

What if… the psycho protagonist comes to eat in his small restaurant when he attends the academy in the future?

The protagonist directly represented trouble, out of nowhere, people would flip tables and get into a fight. Let us not even talk about how someone could get hit to the point of bleeding all over the ground and it’d be hard to clean up first, but if the plants in his restaurant were hit…… ah no, the tables and chairs, it’d also be very annoying to change them out!

Then, his loyal dogs and Gu Xiao Shan will have to work hard again…sigh.

Gu Bai drank his tea in silence, to relive the enormous amount of pressure inside of his heart.

Qi Guan Rui filled his cup again, where was Zi Ju Shu Bai daydreaming off to again…

Whatever, it’d be fine as long as he doesn’t have an interest in other people.

Just as the pressure inside of Gu Bai built up bit by bit, as expected, something happened over at that rich good-for-nothing’s side!

As usual, the great young master, who’d been with countless beauties, took a fancy to the shriveled little cauliflower in the corner, he swayed his way over with a “ehehehe” laugh.

That perverted expression, that wretched motion of hands rubbing, that standard tone of “little beauty”… this was without a doubt, making a clear announcement that even though this person was a rich, good-for-nothing, he was the lowest rich, good-for-nothing of the rich, good-for-nothings; at the bottom of the food chain. A cannon fodder that would never have a great part, an extra with lines so little that they are easily neglected.

The action of his now, which was written as “flirting”, was read as “death-seeking”.

Translator’s Notes:

[1] Male dog couple (狗男男) – Literally translation, the dog is usually added in front of a couple in a romantic relationship to bash on them (usually jokingly) for showing off their love (usually in front single ppl too). There are also more negative interpretations of using the word “dog” in front of a couple but that was not what the author was trying to express here.

[2] Chi (尺) – the Chinese foot, which is usually just a bit longer than a foot in modern times, but during different dynasties back then, each one usually had different measurements for a chi. So it’s a pretty absurd height, though, these kind of 6-9 chi tall man are a common thing in ancient setting novels.

[3] Two hundred fifty (二百五) – Lit. translation. An insult for calling someone stupid, unreasonable, and impulsive.

Poison of the Human Panacea Chapter 56

Wu Yanfu pulled over the robe to cover up Bai Tan then spoke to Li Wuzhang, “What did you want to say? Speak.”

Bai Tan stared at him, he shook his head with a stern look in his eyes, Li Wuzhang’s heart felt like it was being cut by a knife, but he couldn’t get a single word out. He merely knocked his head on the ground as he said in a trembling voice, “Tan’er has already lost his martial arts, he can’t go around acting abused anymore now, so Shizun… please, just let go of him.”

With a wave of Wu Yanfu’s arm, a vigorous wind had Li Wuzhang flying out the door from the shock, “Whether this master lets him go or not, it is not for you to say. He was born as this master’s… even in death, he is this master’s ghost.”

“Shixiong!” Bai Tan sat up but was held in Wu Yanfu’s embrace tightly by one hand, the other threatened in a soft voice, “If you look at him one more time, then this master will not unseal his spell.”

“You!” Bai Tan was enraged, he made a harsh decision and with two fingers raised, he poked towards his own eyes abruptly. Wu Yanfu was instantly shocked, he grabbed tightly onto his wrist.

“What are you doing?”

“You won’t even allow me to look at someone else, I should simply dig out this pair of eyes and give it to you. After all, Li Wuzhang’s spell was activated because of me, I shall repay to settle it!” Bai Tan roared angrily, bright lights shot out of the pair of gorgeous, sharp phoenix eyes, the stare had Wu Yanfu’s heart throb jarringly. He pinched onto his chin, feeling that he should neither scare nor coax him, if he grasped too tightly, he would get rowdy, if he grasped too lightly, then he would vanish without a trace in the blink of an eye. He didn’t know what to do with the little wolf cub, he wasn’t able to control and watch him at all times like this, maybe with just one distraction, the other would hurt both others and himself.

Would there be a turn for the better if he took a step back?

“Alright, then watch carefully.”

Wu Yanfu picked him up into a horizontal hug, he walked to the front of Li Wuzhang’s then he exercised his fingers to pull up his head.

Bai Tan just thought he was going to take Li Wuzhang’s life. In the moment of desperation, he yelled out loudly as he used his neili to break open the acupoints and scratched at the other’s face.

Wu Yanfu quickly stepped back to dodge, then saw Bai Tan pulling Li Wuzhang over before leaping out of the window.

“Tan’er!”

Gui Yu’er witnessed what happened and jumped over to stop Wu Yanfu, yet Wu Yanfu only saw a dark figure passing by in front of his eyes. He struck it with a palm then was able to see the face of an old woman, he immediately stopped his attack, but the wind caused by his palm still swept her into the air then crashing onto the ground.

He naturally had no desire to care for her, he glanced once then was about to chase after, but he heard a soft, desolated scream, “Wait!”

“Have…you known Tan’er since a long time ago?”

“Correct.” Wu Yanfu’s steps stilled, he turned his head to look, “You have something to say to me?”

“Back then, did you ever betray him?”

Wu Yanfu was startled, watching the back of Bai Tan on a horse, running far away, his heart become dreadfully anxious, “Just what are you trying to say?”

“If you sincerely like him, then be sure to treat him better in the future.”

“That is natural.” Wu Yanfu put away Shiyue, he didn’t want to stay for another second, he leaped onto the horse’s back. There was a great amount of sand blown into the air now, Bai Tan’s figure was already gone in a blink of an eye. For a moment, he didn’t know where to start chasing, the sand in the air was as rough as the sea waves, causing the horse to neigh more and more and couldn’t find the direction. Inside, he just felt for certain that like leaving martial skills behind for Bai Tan was a complete mistake.

Bai Tan rushed forward like a headless fly the whole way, he saw what seemed to be the outline of a desert oasis from far away, he instantly grabbed on tightly to the rein to have the horse sprint towards it. They sprinted into a field of grass, there were a lot of trees all around, even the sand had lessened quite a bit.

Bai Tan wiped the sand from his face, his mind hadn’t calmed down yet. Seeing a little stream in front, he quickly went over, squatted down, and washed his face. Then he pulled Li Wuzhang off the horse’s back, but suddenly heard the sound of people talking from nearby. He looked towards the direction of the sound, only to see about a dozen flickering figures highlighted by the glow of firelight. It was Lian Jiu and his people, within them, there was an individual in mismatched attire, that was Si You without a doubt.

He had a severed arm, yet he acted like nothing had happened as he held up wine in the other hand, chattering with those Yue Yin Palace people joyfully. Where could that weak appearance of his from earlier even be seen?

Once seeing that person, Bai Tan was naturally gnashing his teeth from anger, he wished he could skin him alive, but he had to take care of Li Wuzhang right now, so he didn’t dare to make any hasty move. He collected herbs from the area around with light movements, he chewed them up then applied them onto the injury on Li Wuzhang’s hand. After he finished bandaging it up, he saw how the other still had a pale face and remained unconscious, he couldn’t help the ominous feeling growing in him.

He carried Li Wuzhang on his back, but just as he was about to leave the riverside, he could hear his name being mentioned distinctively within the conversation, his ears involuntarily picked up on it.

“I’ve caused that little evildoer to be free for anyone to punish, now that his life is in Tian Su’s grasp, you don’t have to worry about him bringing any threats to Yue Yin Palace.”

“As expected, Brother Si is sharper, gaining victory with unstained swords, forcing that little evildoer to where he has no path left to walk on.”

“So… the item you promised me…”

Bai Tan looked intently and saw Si You reach out a hand towards Lian Jiu.

Lian Jiu hesitated for a while then took an object the size of a silkworm out from his sleeve, the object was wriggling slightly. Bai Tan’s heart leaped, he knew that must’ve been some kind of gu insect.

“This Heart-Deluding Gu[1] is extremely powerful, it shall not be used easily… who are you going to use it against?”

Xiao’s Comments: Wow, what an abrupt end to the chapter…so short too.

[1] Heart-Deluding Gu (痴心销魂蛊) – I did quite a change to the name since the literal sounded really awkward (and joke-like) in English. But the literal would be something like:

“Silly heart (= to be blindly in love) /

melting soul (= to be enchanted) /

gu insect (= an insect that can control people)”
